DBD GB size squish when?
With an engine upgrade later on today i can only assume the GB size would increase substantially from this patch alone, can we expect yet another GB size squish in the near future? In comparison to much bigger game's out, content wise, dbd surpasses them or is near close to in the case of Dragon's Dogma 2.

While the Download should be big, the size of DBD after the Update should not increase by such an amount.

While that's good to hear, i still think the initial GB size of DBD is an issue.

You can only do so much when there are this many cosmetics, maps, killers, and perks in the game.

I mean Elden Ring is an open world massive game with 200 or so boss encounters, massive amount of armour and weapon selections, ashes of war skills, spells and incantations, multiplayer options, and so on. That's just slightly over 51 GB. Maybe an option can be included to just show a selected survivor's base skin model and not have to download every single cosmetic they own in the store?

Your own image tells the story... given it's a live service game with the number of DLCs, it's size is actually impressively small and efficient at 64GB.
It hasn't been uncommon for the past 5 years for games to sit in the 100GB range at base, and as games get more and more ambitious, that number only keeps going up and up.
If you asked me to guess DBDs size in isolation, I'd have been guessing at the 90Gb mark, so 64Gb is pretty darned good in my book... and as the old saying goes "It's exactly as big as it needs to be".

I think you're going to be quite happy today!
The download is going to be bigger than normal as you effectively need to download the whole game again but your file size on PS5 should decrease by around 20GB.

That's great news, many thanks for informing that detail.

The engine upgrade won't affect gameplay, it's likely you won't notice any changes at all.

If you are allowed to say, when exactly is the update going live? I'd like to plan out the evening.

should be in 2 hours from now as that’s the usual time of releases

It's usually around 16:00pm UK time, so like 2 hours from now. Whatever that is in your time zone.

Should be at the usual time, so 11am ET (2hrs and 2 minutes from when I typed this)

Right now I have a lot of work to do from home. This results in loooong evenings with maybe 1 hour of break for something else. Today that is probably the update. Depends on how long it takes to download.

So, this is specific to PS5 and the latest XBox model, right? Is there any work being done to decrease the overall file size on PS4, Xbox One, and PC? Or should we not get our hopes up for that?

I'm afraid I don't have any more infomation but can say for sure that the file sizes on the platforms you listed are already MUCH smaller than those on PS5 & XboxS
With this packaging change for those two platforms, it now brings the file sizes down to a more acceptable number.
