unable to join lobbies after the update

PC, epic games. after the mid chapter update the game became unplayable, each time i queue up i get met with "dedicated server is not responding; disconnecting". it might let me in a lobby randomly, but thats on the off chance. other than that, the only was for me to join a lobby if through using a vpn, which is not fun for either sides in the game.
