Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Proposal for anti-tunnel build survivor

Hello awesome DBD team,

I am Hari and I am one of the biggest DBD addicts haha. I had a crazy idea for the next new survivor where he/she has a strong anti-tunnel build. Even after the recent update with the timer on survivors, killers still manage to tunnel survivors all the time and it makes a toxic community. So here's my ideas for the survivor:

Name: Marielle Dubois

Background: Marielle hails from New Orleans, a city rich in the history of voodoo and spiritual practices. She grew up under the influence of her grandmother, a revered voodoo priestess. From her, Marielle learned the sacred arts of voodoo, using her skills to protect and heal those in her community. Her deep connection to the spiritual world eventually drew the attention of The Entity, pulling her into its realm.

Role in the Game: Marielle uses her knowledge of voodoo to manipulate the trials, aiding her fellow survivors and creating challenges for the killer. Her abilities reflect her background in voodoo, providing unique strategies in gameplay.

Unique Perks:

  1. Eye for an Eye - When activated, this perk allows Marielle to stun the killer momentarily when they hit her, turning their aggression against them and erasing her traces temporarily.
  2. Doll’s Covenant - Using a voodoo doll, Marielle can bind her fate with another survivor. If she is about to be downed after being hooked twice, the perk triggers, downing the bonded survivor instead while granting Marielle a burst of speed.
  3. Calm of the Conjured - A boon perk that allows Marielle to bless a totem, creating a protective circle that silences the sounds of actions within its radius and conceals survivors’ auras from the killer, providing a sanctuary of secrecy and protection.

Character Dynamics: Marielle Dubois brings a mix of mystical abilities and practical survival skills to the game. Her perks encourage teamwork and strategic thinking, offering both high-risk and high-reward tactics. Her presence in Dead by Daylight adds a rich layer of cultural mythology and strategic depth, making her a compelling character for players who enjoy a mystical and tactical approach to gameplay.

Details of the perks (the part I'm excited to share):

  1. Eye for an Eye
    • Description: This perk channels the voodoo principle of retribution. When activated, it turns the killer’s aggression back upon themselves.
    • Effect: After being hooked twice, Marielle can activate this perk. The next time she is hit by the killer, the killer is stunned for 2.5/3/3.5 seconds. Additionally, all scratch marks and pools of blood from Marielle disappear for 10 seconds, aiding her escape.
    • Usage: This perk is a powerful tool for evasion and can be used strategically to escape or to save time for other survivors by distracting the killer.
  2. Doll’s Covenant
    • Description: Using a voodoo doll bound with strands from both Marielle and another survivor, this perk forms a mystic bond that can be both a boon and a bane.
    • Effect: When Marielle is hooked twice, she may activate this perk by offering the doll to another survivor within a 4-meter range. If accepted, the next time Marielle would be downed, she instead gains a burst of speed (7%/9%/11% increase) for 10 seconds, and the bonded survivor is downed in her place. The bonded survivor’s aura is revealed to all players for 5 seconds.
    • Usage: This perk requires careful consideration and coordination with teammates, as it involves significant risk for the bonded survivor. It can turn the tides of a match by providing a crucial escape but at a high cost.
  3. Calm of the Conjured
    • Description: Marielle blesses a totem, invoking the protective spirits to create a sanctuary of silence and secrecy for her and her allies.
    • Effect: Within the radius of the Boon Totem (24/28/32 meters), all noises made by survivors are reduced by 75%, and their auras are hidden from the killer’s view. Additionally, survivors within the radius recover from the Exhausted status effect 30%/40%/50% faster.
    • Usage: This perk is particularly effective for coordinated teams that value stealth and quick recovery. It provides a significant strategic advantage, allowing survivors to work on objectives or heal in relative safety.

These perks showcase Marielle's voodoo background and her strategic approach to survival, providing her and her teammates with powerful tools to manipulate the trial and counter the killer’s threats.

Thank you so much for reading and I really hope that this proposal gets raised and accepted. We really need to stop the toxicity of tunneling.

So long,

Hari

I think with the recent DS buff, the otr/ds/dh build suffices for those who REALLY dont wanna be tunneled. That said, I love dolls covenant but I think it should have some extra drawback to both players involved. Maybe the player who gets downed instead is invisible to the survivors for a certain amount of time while revealed to the killer. It should also be earned in some way, maybe you can only bond a player if they've unhooked you? Overall though I think its a very interesting idea that could be really fun to use.
