Genuine Question, why is this a meta shake-up?
As a Killer I am still going to run Pop, Pain Res, and Dead lock because I there literally is no better perks.
I would LOVE TO RUN FUN BUILDS, but I can't get any fun out of them because the game is already halfway over before I get 3 hooks.
I don't understand how its a meta shake-up, when instead of buffing bad perks. They nerf perks that Killers are still going to use.

Because it's so fun when survivors rush gens because you decided to play a fun build and then tell to unalive yourself for "sucking as a killer" in the endgame chat. Truly, the way to encourage people to play new killers and try new builds /s

This isn't a meta shake up at all. All the other options are still terrible so people are all going to still run the same perks, they'll just be worse. Idk how anyone would think this is going to change the meta.
8 -
Nobody said anything about a meta shake-up. The meta perks are just a bit less annoying to play against.
6 -
CC's seem to think otherwise
0 -
One CC. And it doesnt matter cause its just a CC. None of the devs called it a shake up, that would matter.
5 -
Out of pure curiousity, what is this if not a meta shake-up?
It's definitely not a balance change because they would've buffed other perks to make every perk more in line.0 -
You need to lower the base-line.
If you manage to make a perk as good as Pop + PR; it's gotta be ludicrously OP.
15 -
It’s a nerf to a bunch of the strongest perks to make them less frustrating to play against.
But you are correct that this will not really change the meta much, at least on the killer side. It will just make the killer meta a little less oppressive. I doubt Pain Res will actually drop in usage that much, it’s still strong at 20% regression.

If you feel like you have to use those perks that sounds like a lack of creativity and imagination on your part
14 -
A meta shake-up would mean that the meta will change. But it wont. Slowdown is still the most efficent combination to go with for starters. Its clearly a balance change, cause those perks are the most annoying combination to go against right now and are not healthy.
4 -
Lower the baseline so S-Tier killers can still dominate and lower tier Killers get shafted?
I can only not use those perks on Blight and Billy. If I play any non movement killer 100% atleast 2 survivors will escape.
5 -
Once again, if you make a perk as good as PR Pop, it's still going to be OP on S-tiers.
Even of low-tiers, four slowdown is far too strong.
11 -
Yeah i don't think people are gonna use different perks. It's basically just a nerf to the killer meta. Same meta just less effective. But still the most effective.

This feels like one of those patches that doesn't make a ton of sense now but will in a couple months when we get other changes.

If the chat was moderated and there was a three strike and out moderation system which was FAIR (like there is on PSN) then it would heavily reduce toxicity.
It has worked on PSN so far (almost anyway lol)

The chat should be removed altogether, period. There is no value in it and keeping it for the illusory hope of "positive and wholesome communication" is just ridiculous. If people want to communicate so badly, they can send a friend request on Steam. When a killer sees a bunch of survivors loitering around the opened exit gates or when a survivor is BMed by a killer for getting caught too early, it's clear they won't be reading anything nice in the endgame chat.

I've never used Pop and I haven't run Pain Res since it lost it's info in 6.1. I play mainly M1 killers. My games are no more frustrating for it.
There are more than 2 viable perks in the game. You've chosen to become a meta slave. Chose not to be.

Content creators blowing things out of proportion to get clicks. Nothing new here. It is not a shakeup. It is a few reasonable balance changes.
Have you considered that these changes might bring these perks more in line with the others?

Do you get a lot of hate messages endgame on PC? I haven't had hate mail in so long on Console.
I'd also like to suggest us getting more communication emotes/methods in game too, that's honestly the reason a lot of people TB. Because we have 3 emotes and one allows you to move whilst using it. Imagine a survivor at the exit gates but instead of TB'ing they decide to wave their arms from left to right? ik you'd find that funny surely and even if they did decide to be toxic end game you'd just simply be able to ignore it. But I do agree that toxicity can take it's toll.
Moderation is the only way that will be resolved, if the game was more strict on enforcing toxicity it would definitely be reduced.. however, me personally I don't really care if someone is toxic to me so, I guess its different from person to person.

Try playing soloQ survivor and see for yourself how "quick" gens get done there. After they made them 90 seconds, a soloQ game against 4 slowdowns is a lost cause. This is the main reason behind the recent rise in "self unhook attempts and missed checkpoints on the hook", btw.

So if your still gonna use those perks then why complain?
2 -
There is no fun builds for killer unless you're going in expecting to have a good chance of losing. You're playing a 4 v 1 game. That's how it is, If you have the leisure to use fun builds and still mop the floor then there's something seriously wrong.
Fun builds > Also wants to win
Pick one.
5 -
to me, it is just another nerf on killer.
5 -
Why are Pop/Pain Res annoying? I don't use the other two, so I can't say, but both of the former require hooks, and one can only be used four times.
1 -
This… I main Trapper right now and I only use one slowdown perk (pop). I don’t understand why so many people say they need to stack 3 or 4. Maybe it’s a lack of skill? Idk.
6 -
Cause its super fun if you get hit wirh 3 pains and some pops while your team is in chases and you try to do a single gen for 4 minutes.
5 -
The last time people didnt want survivors to use DH & Sprint burst. Devs gave MFT & Background player. You know how it went.
1 -
It isn't going to change a thing. In fact it most likely make killer builds even more slowdown focus. To survivors surprise not all of us run 4 slowdown perks but with these nerfs you most likely going to see it even more. You may even see even more slugging, camping and tunneling.
For example in all my builds I use at max two slowdown but going forward I think I'm going to have to add a 3rd or even a 4th thanks to these nerfs. The meta going to get even more staler and guess what survivors are continue to complain about slowdown perks bc new flash they have always hated slowdown. Survivors use to complain about Ruin and undying meta. Nothing going to change.

It doesn't need to be a meta shakeup per se, and I wouldn't call any of the perks aside from Pop majorly nerfed, but now the people running four slowdowns every game will actually have to play for matches that don't involve 3-4 SWF. Individually, these changes aren't anything big, but together? They add up. I'm surprised DMS wasn't touched tbh

This update is not a meta shake-up.
It's a slap on the wrist for all the nerfed killer perks.
1 -
To be fair, they'd tell you the same thing, if you won with 5 gens remaining. This has nothing to do with perks but with horrible people.
1 -
Then isn't that a problem with your team, not the perk? To get anything out of the perks, the killer has to put the work in to be rewarded with their usage, and one can only be used once per survivor.
1 -
I think people calling it a meta shake up believe that killer players will intelligently interpret these changes as a reason to try out other types of perks.
I agree with you, i think killer players are by and large going to double down on regression, even though it's been nerfed, instead of picking chase perks that more directly help the killer's actual win con.
2 -
If you want to run fun perks, then run fun perks. Don't make excuses. A large part of players problems stems from constantly using meta perks. These perks carry them into a higher MMR than they have the actual skill for. Then once they are in a higher MMR than they have the skill for, they are pushed into a situation where they feel they "have to" use certain perks or they will get run over. Don't you see that you are the architect of your own miserable situation? Just play whatever perks and playstyle you think is fun and you will naturally find yourself in the correct MMR and have more enjoyable matches. You also won't be so effected by whatever balance changes come and go.
