Can we get an API??
I've been a part of DBD ever since 2017, and one of the things that I've noticed is that BHVR really likes their stats and data and analyzing all of these to guide their decisions on what to do next. This has its obvious pros and cons, but I'm not asking for a change in that formula. Instead, I'm asking for a way for developers to be able to access this data through an API.
For those unfamiliar with the concept of APIs, just know that if BHVR were to implement (a proper) one for DBD, we would be able to access (most of) the same data that BHVR has. Sites like NightLight and the DBD Leaderboards would be able to take advantage of this and provide up-to-date statistics on most used perks, most common loadouts, most burned offerings, and pretty much anything statistic related within DBD (again, reliant on how sophisticated the API is).
With data like this, we would be able to formulate our own opinions on data and even create new data points for ourselves, bringing light to something that may have been overlooked. Developers could provide information on more specific stats like how often a certain toolbox is used, how many gens on average get completed against a specific killer. Developers could also use this API to make a Twitch extension to allow users to see the past 10 games, kill/escape results, and such; all of these are only use cases, but know that the possibilities are essentially endless.
The important part is that we would be able to access most of the data from BHVR themselves, instead of through fan-made websites like NightLight (which is a great website, but its main disadvantage is that the site is 100% reliant on users submitting their own games). Being able to have a public API for developers would be an amazing way to invite community-driven discussions on topics, and can even help the community make more informed decisions on particular topics as well.

It would be cool to have a proper rest-api.
Whether BHVR want all that data public is another question though, but as a fan, I'd be interested, even to just make dumb little queries...
Likee how many
traitorsdistortion users manage to escape on average... Or investigate why the hell Boil Over is so popular, when all it does is make the killer mark you for death...2 -
As a baseline, I think it would be nice to publicize all of the data that already is available as if everyone were to document all of their games, which wouldn't contain any identifying information of course. It's hard to think of a reason why BHVR wouldn't want all of this to be publicly known.
Of course, everything can have a ton more properties, the structure can be different, etc. etc. but something like this but much more sophisticated could make its way into our hands, allowing us to analyze the data for ourselves and draw a lot of points, while keeping it in the scope of the game. I don't really see a reason why BHVR would deny us information of a game that we can just report as a community. All an API would do is give us a more complete picture of everything.

I would love this as well. I think the issue isn’t as much ability but more not wanting us to have that info so readily. It’s basically the same reason mmr is hidden. If you can’t see problems you can’t complain about them. If they don’t want us to know our own ranking I wouldn’t imagine they’d want us having that unfortunately.
