If survivor jumping into a hatch is injured and hit mid jump, it should cancel their jump
Makes it so that it isn't just "if you luckily come across the hatch mid chase you win"

Personally once the hatch is open the deck is already stacked in the Killers favor any minor help would be good

I would rather this not be a thing since it gives me "hatch stand-off vibes" from any update before Patch 2.7.0.

The Killer's favor? Are you high?
You need a 3k, then do a 50/50 game with a Survivor, then if you still win that 50/50 you have to hold 2 exit gates. Sometimes an exit gate is far enough from hatch that if the Survivor was camping it, they can open it by the time a Killer holds W all the way.
The Killer's favor?????
10 -
Of course. The Killer moves faster and does not have to hide to find the Hatch. They have the bigger chance of finding it. The Survivor can only find the Hatch if they became lucky.
@Topic:
No, this would just make Hatch Stand-Offs return in some way. If Exit Gates would be far away from each other, some Killers might just stand at the Open Hatch and wait instead of closing it.
And lets be real, if not all Gens are done and the Survivor got a lucky escape via Hatch, the Killer still won the game.
7 -
So you get locked in a blood wipe animation and they still get away?

Hatch exists for the game to end. That's it. The game doesn't even count hatch as an escape per MMR, it's considered null and void. So I doubt they'll make any changes around it. No point in prolonging the game and making hatch stand off's a thing again.
13 -
Survivors don't have to hide if they're healthy either. You will most likely find the hatch / cover a lot of ground by simply holding W with the speed boost from the injury.
Also, that measly 10-15% faster movement speed is nothing compared to the 3rd person camera survivors have. Killers have to walk around and hope to get into the audio range of the hatch. It's very difficult to see it, and 9/10 times you find it with sound cues. Survivors? They can see it from a mile away. Of course, not everytime, but it's much more useful than the Killer's 10-15% movement speed advantage.
Even if not, so what? I get a 3k, then I should have a disadvantage at finding hatch? Why am I getting punished for playing well? I made this example before, but it's like a heart attack button that appears if you lose all 5 gens, and there's a 50% chance a random survivor will die to a heart attack because you found the button. Why am I losing a 4k because of some random 50/50 game mechanic that then leads to a 2 minute sweatfest of walking between 2 gates, trying to find an optimal spot and hoping that they aren't far enough to the point where you can't even hold W to one of them by the time it's open?
2 -
You dont have a disadvantage when finding Hatch. I already said - you are faster and dont have to hide. If it upsets that much (and the wall of text indicates it) if the Survivor got lucky after you clearly won the game, I think this is a "you"-problem.
7 -
Well ok but killer cant close it anymore without the clown perk , like old time
Edit :and the key opens instantly as before0 -
They should just remove hatch and be done with it, no more weird hatch standoffs no more looking around the map for ages, no survivor waiting at the gate for you to close hatch, because you won't make it in time there to stop them anyway. I would like the game to put more focus on winning or losing as a team instead of this lone wolf garbage.
1 -
thats not a good idea.
In soloq if you think your mates are bad you still have the hatch.
If you think it's lost in advance we'll just have more suicides/leaves3 -
And why exactly is that an issue? Hatch does not count for mmr anyway? The match is probably over at that point and then they can just give up and get a more enjoyable game instead, I don't see any downside there.
1 -
Do you enjoy playing against 4 Bot ? if yes go custom
The hatch is part of the game since the begining, i dont talk about mmr i talk about some hope in game.
Hatch now can be close, now you have timer when hatch is close for killer.
If hatch is an issue for you, put Offerings for hatch and camp it.0 -
If you jump into a hole, do you stop momentum when you get hit by something else?
1 -
Who cares if it is part of the game since the beginning? It is still a stupid mechanic that rewards people for getting lucky.
As for the hope part, why should you get that? You should put your entire focus on winning by doing the gens and escaping, that should be your goal, which is why I think mmr should get affected as a team and not for every single player by themselves, so the goal of people is to make your team succeed, whereas hatch just promotes playing in an egoistic way, possibly even sacrificing your mates to get out. I don't really think that is that much of a hot take.
Sure hatch can be closed? So what? I explained why the current system is an issue and you just state the obvious?
"If you don't like mechanic X, instead of giving a reasonable idea to change it just use x and hope the survivor is not also camping the location and still manages to get in first." Well if that is your approach then I don't really understand why you are even debating stuff?

I mean… according to newtons laws of motion "a body remains in motion except insofar as it is acted upon by force" so let's you get clubbered by Billys or Bubbas hammer it might just throw you away from managed to fall into the hatch, for Wesker it is even more obvious.
So maybe don't use that as an argument ^^ Gameplaywise I don't think we should go back to the original hatch standoffs.
0 -
I'm fairly sure this would cause a hatch stand off.
2 -
You could just reach the hatch first, like killers do 90% of the time, and close it.
9 -
Idd like to see you stop a 80kg from falling with a hammer
0 -
If you smack hard enough… Let me ask a friend of mine who might be able to calculate how hard you would need to hit ^^
0 -
You need about 200 newtons horizontal force. And the Killers hit down or to slice, not horizontal. Not gonna happen.
0 -
I disagree. Hatch race is much more fun.
0 -
I guess then it stays with only Wesker can do it logically, but I would assume the killers could adjust the aim ^^
0 -
Maybe Nemesis could punch them away as well… Or Onryo since it is telekinsesis.
0 -
I don't know, hatch race is the most boring thing ever, I cannot be asked to run around the map just to find the last survivor when it does not matter for anything.
0 -
Don't the two different forces add up into a different, diagonal direction?
0 -
They do but the directions Killers apply attacks are rarely horizontal so it wont mattrter.
0 -
what? no!
Hatch is already pretty rare. If you get lucky hatch - you get lucky hatch. That´s it.
1 -
If a survivor starts a chase with the killer he'll most likely win the hatch race, because he's the one in front of the killer-
0 -
Unless the survivor's on console, in which case they can't tell where the hatch is by sound and they'll get turned around, go in the wrong direction, and the killer will get to close it while the survivor never figures out where it was in the first place…
I lose out on it more than I get it if I'm in chase with the killer. The killer being behind me doesn't matter.
1 -
You can like, use a headphone... or something
0 -
You think I don't?
Sound is bugged on console. This guy mentions it in the video he just did:
Same headphones, different results. As I've been saying for years, directional sound in DbD's console port is garbage.
1 -
I play on the ps4 and I don't have any problem with it, even without headphones i can easily find where the hatch is the moment I ear it 🤷♂️ maybe I just have more playtime or something
1 -
Same. Also PS4.
0 -
I play survivor almost exclusively on Switch.
2 -
Some things in the video seem to be Xbox problems i think.
0 -
Consolers on a couch a dozen meters from an old TV using that old TV's speakers to play is a real thing, and very common globally.
As others have said, sounds are kinda rough on the Switch and Xbox. Truthfully this game's sound occlusion is very wonky no matter the platform.
0 -
well i prefer killers should grab the survivor at mid-air while jumping onto the hatch
Since just like 2018
1 -
Hatch standoff reloaded… You do realise that hatch standoff the lenght of several hours existed… And that was terrible, why on earth would you want that back?
2 -
I think Jeff or Jane should be able to toss any Legion or my beloved Amanda Panda right on out of they way, hatch or no hatch!
0 -
Not to mention the fact survivors can simply take a key and search for hatches instead of opening gates, survivors have like FIVE chances for escape
1 -
Because killers can close the hatch now. The old hatch grab should definitely come back.
2 -
No, it should not, it was a terrible mechanic and there is no reason to being it back.
0 -
Actually, there is emblems, tomes, achievements, BPs, countless amount of things require 4k in this game, so it does matter without question
0 -
Hatch race is already in the killer's favor.
The killer does not have to avoid being seen or heard by the survivor.
The killer moves faster and can still use mobility powers.
Hatch offerings are in the killer's favor (unless they hook the 2nd to last survivor in the basement on the opposite side of the map and have no mobility powers), even if both the killer and survivor are standing on top of the hatch spawn before the last survivor fully perishes into the skybox.
0 -
With that logic why not just let the 4th survivor live by default? When 3 people are dead the fourth person either lives or dies by default, if it does not matter then this should not be an issue in either direction?
0 -
No not to keep waiting, as i'm aware about this terrible standoff, i'm just talking that either the killer can close it like usual as they can do or grab the survivor who attempt to jump. I think that would make the gameplay fair, or lets say if they can only grab them only if they attempted to jump while injured.
now i see that would make it gameplay fair enough this time.
0 -
And what exactly is the survivor supposed to do in the standoff situation? He cannot go into hatch as he will get grabbed but he also cannot do anything else? Given that I despise hatch in general I would say the current version we have is the least bad one... There is no good reason to bring hatch standoff back...
2 -
The possible reasons it could matter for the survivor are similar to those of the killer to want the 4k, needing to survive for a tome challenge or daily, wanting the extra BP for escape or kill and one additional one which is to keep the item... So once again, why does it matter for the survivor more than for the killer?

With the weird levels of BS put on killers recently, it would definitely be fine. You don't need to worry about balancing what is essentially a consolation prize.
