Why can't I play with my friend?

I have exhausted Support, they don't know why this happens, so I thought I'd ask the community.

I play on Nintendo Switch. I have one friend who also plays on Nintendo Switch that I can't play with.

I will invite him, or vice versa, and we both ready up but I get sent to a lobby and he gets a message that says "Connection to Host lost."

He then cannot use any buttons on his controller, he literally has to close out the game and reset.

Today, we tried no invites. He just joined me and we were able to play for about 5 hours! But then it started again.

This only happens with this one friend. I can play with friends from other platforms and even other Switch players without a hiccup.

We have the same settings (cross play on) on and we're on the same platform and we have the same ISP.

We have tried everything Support suggested (reset modem, router, redownload game, ect) but this has been going on 2 years now.

If we both restart the game about 3 times, we're lucky to get to play one match together.

The disconnect always happens on his end, even if I join him. He can play SoloQ, Killer and with his other friends with no problem.

What could possibly be causing this?

Nintendo Switch is the worst console to play on, sorry. It may be be the Internet, or a variety of other issues, but the game really struggles on the switch (I know as a former switch player myself) and and may only get worse. Sorry about this.

Also, please don't take this as an answer, I know plenty of other users on this forum know way better than I do.
