Why does the entity stop the killer from leaving the trial to go after the survivors?

To start with, we see the entity block certain things in the trial in two different ways, the first is with claws/legs like when it blocks a gen, the second way is with spikes, like when the entity blocks a vault location. So why is it the same colored spikes can be seen when the killer tries to leave the trial area to chase the survivors as they run into the fog and eventually back to the campfire? We also see spikes of a more white hot color appear when a generator has reached maximum regression but that could just be the entity indicating such. Im really just wondering if there is a lore reason for this or if its just one of those things that isnt part of the lore and is only part of the gameplay.

One reason might be that the concept of an ending intensifies the panic from both sides. If the killer knew they could just follow the survivors out, then there is no urgency and the killer would just be calm, patient and lose little emotion. If survivors knew escaping is fruitless, they may give up sooner or just keep hiding without confrontation, resulting in less emotion.

Deadlines cause stress. Knowing there is a deadline ups the stakes.

To give survivors false sense of hope and security because that allow entity feed on more kind of emotions and use survivors for longer
