Removing 2v8 is a huge mistake
2v8 is a major success. It brought new players and veterans alike. It's the most fun mode ever completely obliterating 1v4. This mode is also a solo Q friendly. Removing this mode is a big mistake on your part. I'm not going to lie but I think that after you remove 2v8 a lot will boycott or, worse, threaten to bring it back.
My advise is to slowly implement new classes, bigger maps, reduce killer queue times, adjustments, killers, add anti slugging and more as you update the game. This is not only good to keep it around for testing but it ultimately fixes all the nasty stuff. 2v8 will be the new era for dbd.

I mean it's gonna come back with more content and balance changes, but having it as a permanent mode would kill the game. Killer queue times in both 2v8 and 1v4 are pretty bad.

Is that true for you? In my experience and listening to the voices in the forums, 2vs8 needs far more survivors, because survivors are focusing on 1vs4,meaning more Killers are needed there...
Has there been a sudden massive uptick of killers overall with the release of 2vs8? 🤨
5 -
Killer queues are bad all around the game.
17 -
But… thats exactly what they are planning to do? As mutch reluctance i have against BHVR, even i have to defend their case here. They have repeadedly assured that this is just a first iteration and more killers&other content will release in future iterations until one day it becomes the perfect version of the mode.
IF the feedback for the mode overall is good enough ofc. With the amount of people hyper focused on the balance of this mode it might pretty mutch also be the first and last time we see it as the feedback seems overall negative.3 -

People who played survivor in 1v4 solely because it was the only way to play with friends can now play with friends as killer in 2v8, as survivor in 2v8, or still as survivor in 1v4. The survivor pool from 1v4 is now spread around three different queues, and given how 8 survivors are needed for a single 2v8 match, it's difficult to ever fill that hole, but even in 1v4 a small disturbance can have a large ripple effect given 4 survivors are needed for every 1 killer for a single match.
There are a lot of people from both the 1v4 killer queue and the 1v4 survivor queue who now want to play killer in 2v8. That means that even if a lot of people are queueing up as survivor in 2v8, it's going to be hard to balance with how many are queueing up for killer. So, it's not that the survivors are sticking to 1v4 and that's why 2v8 needs more survivors, it's that they're spread around and the balance is severely thrown off across both modes.

I have to agree with Krazzik there. My killer queue times in 1v4 were about 5 minutes compared to the normal 30 seconds if that. Queue times are not great for killer at all, from my experience.
17 -
I think the mode has been well received enough for it to be a permanent addition to the game
I disagree with those who say this will “kill” the game… Far from it, this is the breath of fresh air we needed. Nearly 100k players on DBD steam during 2v8’s launch, with many veterans (myself included) returning to check this out. It can only get better the more they improve it
1v4 was becoming stale, and until 2v8 came along the previous game modes just weren’t fun nor successful.. this is the one myself & many others want to keep6 -
All fair enough... guess that's on me as I tend to follow the bloodpoint bonus anyway, and haven't really noticed at the times I've played....
My bad 😅
1 -
Please no. The queue times are too bad to keep this around.
14 -
The mode is destroying killer queue times for both 2v8 and 1v4 and has resulted in 1v4 not having any incentives whatsoever. It absolutely should not become permanent.
20 -
For me, even at peak times my killer queues are 10-15 mins for 2v8 and 5+ mins for 1v4. Until they make some big changes to 2v8 to help with that, they can't leave it in as killer would be miserable.
10 -
Personally i dont care if they remove it or not. Tried to play it for days now but stuck in killer queue for way too long. I give up after 20-30 mins, quit out DBD and go play another game. Would very much like to play this, but cant.
7 -
i'm.surprised people actually like the mode, especially survivors... there's nothing new, interesting, or different to play 2v8 than normal except the lack of opportunities to be saved or to save someone else... (and perks of course)
11 -
Between the queue times that are insane and the chaotic side getting away, I'd rather see them balance the mode a bit.
(I'm already back to 1vs4)
5 -
Im all for choice so having it as an additional option for people permanently would be great but not at the detriment of the 1 v 4. As it stands, and as many have pointed out, currently 2 v 8 has made q times in both modes unbearable for many killers so both modes are taking a big hit. There just isn't enough players to support both modes.
6 -
This is false. The devs said if the game mode proved to be successful it will be permanent. It was very successful.
5 -
It’s too late. It will be.

Not sure how it's been a success tbh, success to me would be players of both sides taking part. With the long wait times for killers and the 400% incentive for survivors I wouldn't say it's been an overall success. Success for killers maybe but I would argue a bit of a flop with survivors as a whole
14 -
Killers have been having a blast. 💥 Survivors are having a lot of fun too because they get to play with big groups of close friends. Both sides are taking part just fine.
400% was just an incentive by the devs to help reduce queue times because the game mode has been so popular. Killers finally having the chance to KWF it up.3 -
2v8 could set your console on fire and people would still celebrate it as a success because otherwise the years of begging for it will have been for nothing.
9 -
I agree it's a success with killers, there is no shortage of killers waiting to take part. But survivors...I'm not so sure. If it was that much of a success then surly there would be enough playing to lower the waiting times. Sure there are lots of survivors having a blast but overall I would say not enough survivors are playing it, and it's only been a week. Barely enough time for novelty to wear off. I think the longer it's out, the less survivors will want to play. I could be wrong, in an ideal world it would be great to have both modes and no long waits but I just don't see it happening.
11 -
2v8 is fun but it need to go if not wait time will kill it
7 -
”If it was that much of a success then surly there would be enough playing to lower the waiting times”
We had enough survivors and THEN some. The issue was the mass increase of killers. People who haven’t played in a while to play killer so they could play with their friend, older vets returning back to team up as killer for the “temporary 2v8” mode.
1 -
That’s your opinion and that’s fine… Let’s just see what the stats say when they release that in a week. Then we can have a conversation about it. 🔥

Killer wise, it's a fun game mode with friends. If you play it with a friend who also plays killer, it's basically an 8-10K every game. (At least it was for me and my friend. Our queues were of course 15+ minutes long, so we only played five matches in total in the span of 3 days.)
Survivor wise, it's fun, but a lot more annoying to play if you have two killers who are literally attached to the hip. That's been my experience in 2v8 lately. Two killers chasing one survivor and sandwiching them between pallets so they get down instantly, and then go chase a new survivor who is alone by themselves and repeat the same thing. Every single game, that's exactly what happens to me. Its so annoying and unfun to play against because I literally don't have a single chance to make the chase even last longer than 4 seconds. If I throw down the pallet, the huntress is 100% going to throw a hatchet to my skull and if I don't throw it down, the wraith on the other side of it, is just gonna M1 me.
I'm only playing survivor to farm bloodpoints, but even then, 400bp doesn't feel like enough.
I have to play like a complete coward, if I even wanna SEE end game in 2v8. Sure, I'll like to see 2v8 come back every now and then with new changes. But I don't want it to be permanent. I'm worried about the queue times for 1v4 if this mode stays around, because so far? I'd rather be playing 1v4 right now, but the queue times are so long that I'm stuck playing 2v8.

BHVR did the right thing by making this a temporary mode instead of a permanent mode this time round. It's a good way to see how it worked, reactions, unexpected side effects and so on. They can then review this and bring back the mode with more improved aspects.
It's true people will drop off once it has gone, but that's to be expected and some of the newer players may stay because they just enjoy the game. There won't be any need to pitch to bring it back because that's guaranteed - this mode will be returning in future, just like Chaos Shuffle will be (both mode were well-received).
With luck, it won't be too long before it returns, either as a time-limited mode or permanent. BHVR have made two amazing modes which greatly enriched the game.
Even if 2v8 wasn't for me as something I'd regularily used, it would be moronic of me to not notice how positive this has been for the game. I look forward to its return and any improvements it brings.

Queues say otherwise.
5 -
I liked it at first now I hate it
if it never returns I be fine with it.
10 -
I enjoy thr base dbd game, so I don't need perks.
Bonus for me is that killers don't have their usual perks either so I feel I actually come out ahead.

Will clear up some things, the mode will definitely not be permanent at the present time.
There are further iterations planned that will be limited time modes, whilst feedback and the data is examined before confirming that this mode would be permanent, it's definitely not a quick decision to make and it's not something that will be decided any time soon.
20 -
Its not a greater success than any other mode before. It was a spike of player as in all new modes, and thats it. Most people stoped playing after several days especially survivors, cause its just a super clusterfuck most of the time and no mmr caters towards killers. Instead of playing with 2-3 bad mates you get more than doubled bad mates. Cages arent fun, several killer combinations arent fun, queues arent fun. So unless you want to maximize your speed killer fantasy this game mode has not much to offer.
3 -
You're assuming all the killers are new players and not those who typically play survivor with their friends.
3 -
It's not a success with this killer, because I can't PLAY killer.
Waiting 15/20 minutes for a 4 minute game is prohibitive. It may be fun, but that doesn't mean anything if I can't get a game to begin with.
Besides, we can't use player numbers to determine if it's a success or not. They specifically disabled role bonuses on regular 1v4 in order to entice people into playing survivor in 2v8. The data is tainted, it's not the game mode that's a success, it's the bloodpoint bonus.

I can't play killer in either mode without suffering through unreasonable queue times. As far as I'm concerned, this mode is NOT a success.
4 -
You can play killer. You just have to wait 15 minutes. There is a difference.
Also…The feedback for 2v8 was well received. I think we'll see another test run or two in time, with more additions as well as suggested changes. I definitely believe a permanent is possible.. Someday.

My guy, you might have the time to wait 15 minutes per match but we don't. I often don't have long windows of time in which I can play match after match. With short queues, I can hop on to play a match as and when I get 20 minutes free to do so. Long queue times completely alienate myself and other players like me.

"The data is tainted, it's not the game mode that's a success, it's the bloodpoint bonus"
This. I only played for the bonus, and I'm sure alot of other survivors did too. If queue times would be even worse without the 400% incentive (which I'm assuming it was, hence why they gave the incentive in the first place) then it's not the mode which is a success. It's the bloodpoint bonus. You're spot on.

Solo queue survivor is significantly more fun in 2v8. Wether that's enough to warrant the massive queues for Killers in both modes, I don't think so.
2 -
The trick is to queue up then go take a bong hit, do some laundry or do some push ups :P
I already play Master Duel so I'm jacked AF
1 -
I think solo queue is more fun in 2v8 as well. I guess it’s more fun for killer too.

Cool story? I already know we don't agree on this topic my guy, so why bother? So you don't have more time than others. I work from home, so it makes no difference to me. Don't know what else you want me to say…

Why bother? To point out the lack of consideration for other players on display in these threads. I can guarantee you, there's a lot of other players in the same boat as me who can't (or won't) wait in longer queues to play DbD, and despite knowing this, you guys still insist throwing away our ability to play the game is preferable if it means you get to keep 2v8.
Every time this gets pointed out the response is "well just wait 15 minutes" or "oh doesn't affect me because I work from home." And honestly, it's such an inconsiderate attitude, that I can't not comment.

Great! Cool Story. Once again. I don't know what else to tell you. Ive made my points already earlier. I am done talking to you about it.

Honestly? I prefer Chaos Shuffle by far, by far. Chaos Shuffle is to similiar but the balance on that is good, just a little ajustments ( maybe a anti tunnel basekit) and other few things and Chaos Shuffle will be absolutely perfect to be a permanent mode. 2v8 is good, but to be sazionaly
4 -
Chaos shuffle was very successful with many people asking for it to come back, enough that the Devs put a question about it in their satisfaction survey.
Personally, I prefer Chaos Shuffle over 2vs8 and going with the comment above mine, I'm not the only one.

THISSSSS
if it wasnt because of the 400% bonus, I wouldnt have played it
2 -
how? it's twice the numebr of players that don't help.and hide in corners...
2 -
Hopefully it is only on occasionally. Seemed like a good idea but in execution it's terrible for killers.

For real.
Nothing irks me more than seeing SEVEN survivors just doing absolutely nothing. Like why is NOONE on a gen but me???

Dbd is biggest asymmetrical horror game it has enough players for separate game modes.
Friday 13th playerbase is very small but has instant queques still. Tcm has fast queques too and has also small playerbase. So problem is not the size of playerbase.
Problem is that killer role is too popular in both modes at the moment. So the solution is to make survivor side more appealing to players in 2vs8 especially.
I think 1vs4 will be fine especially when separate bp bonuses are added if not then than just tells players enjoy 2vs8 more at the moment and it should stay as pernament addition.
2vs8 is now having less than 5 minutes time for me on killer so problem is already starting to getting solved. Now if they add somd new mechanic for survivor side that will make it even shorter.
If you want 2vs8 removed you should think others too lot of people are having fun with it. Both modes can co-exist. Queques times will be fine eventually in 1vs4 as more players return to it. Remember 2vs8 has been out just week.
