My thoughts on August Developer Update
The new Developer Update, so more notes from me, a random player.
Dredge:
The number buffs are nice, but I feel most are unnecessary. Not because he doesn't need a buff, but because it's problems aren't numerical. Lowering the sound is a nice change, but I feel a better one would be that during Nightfall, it became silent. Nightfall is supposed to be an oppressive, dark, dangerous time, and instead it's just a test of your headphones. Still having to deal with locks during nightfall is also dumb. Numbers are nice though.
Doctor:
I mean, they're nice changes. Doctor isn't a bad killer, nor a good killer. Buffing this will help him in some situations, but when Calm Spirit, along with the new perk from Lara Croft, Hardened, exist, it doesn't change anything. Truly, the best change would be to have Static shock not cause a "scream" but something else that calm spirit and Hardened don't block. Don't get me wrong, Infectious and other "Scream" perks should be blocked, but like Slippery Meat affected Bear Traps, these perks shouldn't block Doctor Shock.
Nemesis:
You mean Vigil won't be good against the slowdown anymore? Sadness, that meme slowdown was fun. Truly though, this is a fantastic change, Nemesis having to hit Survivors 3 times already increased chase duration, having a real slowdown makes it less problematic. The 1 reduced contamination point is meh.
Perk Changes:
They're fine, none are really problematic perks, just fun perks. Glad to see their cooldowns being brought in line.
Prestige visual:
You should block players from seeing Steam profiles then.
Hook Timer:
20 additional seconds is quite a chunk of time to add to each Survivor. For most normal gameplay scenarios, that's 20-60 additional generator charges, 1-1.8 Health states healed, or 80-240 meters of distance covered. This isn't a bad change, but it isn't a good change.
Scratch Marks:
Okay I guess.
Overall, this is a weird update… 2v8 just came out and proved the game is busted to hell, yet they're doubling down on base DbD, which leaves something to be desired for gameplay wise. I feel until they learn the lesson 2v8 could teach them, DbD itself won't do nearly as well as 2v8 did.

If you don't my opinions here:
Dredge:as a former dredge main, these are nice changes, and the only thing I would change are locker spawns, but otherwise are pretty good. Maybe something else, like ignoring locks during nightfall, but that's it.
Doctor: no complaints, only change is that he can make unhooks impossible, but other than that I think he's pretty much perfect l
Nemesis: nice starting changes, but hoping for better zombie AI and speed, and an addon pass
Survivor perks: For the ones that went down to 20% put them at 25%, otherwise perfect
Prestige: no complaints
Hook timer: wait and see, but I'm leaning towards not so good
Scratch marks: nice
Overall nice update, was hoping for some killer perks changes, namely septic touch, but otherwise pretty good

DbD itself won't do nearly as well as 2v8 did
I mean, that’s a claim based entirely on the novelty of 2v8. You write this as is regular mode is a whole different game, when 2v8 would never have existed without DbD’s success in the first place.
As for my thoughts…
Dredge - cool, but won’t affect me. My brain short-circuits when I try to play Dredge (unrelated to Nightfall, I must add) so I don’t play him.
Doc - On the fence.I don’t think his issue was with Static Blast to begin with. The movement speed buff is…inconsequential, and I feel like a 30s cooldown on “miss” might make it too free. Negative information is still information, especially early on.
Nemesis - Great, no notes.Perks - Small, but alright. Nothing that will change the meta, but that wouldn’t have happened anyway.
Prestige hidden from lobbies - fantastic. Might go a long way to reduce the backfilling issue, too.
Hook Timer - We’ll see how it plays out. Won’t affect me in the slightest as killer.
Scratches - Good, was long overdue.
Midwich - impossible to say without actually seeing the changes. Slightly concerned about the whole “hallway visibility” thing, but again, impossible to say without seeing it in action.

What is the lesson to be learned from 2v8? I don't see any revelation there. I only see amplified 1v4.

DbD' has had an 8 year lifespan, been on multiple consoles, and has worldwide appeal. 2v8 has had a week. There may be lessons to learn from 2v8, but that can't be talked about with recognizing that the base game is incredibly successful.

My thoughts on the upcoming update.... What new bugs will they introduce and how severe will they be? 🤣

You should block players from seeing Steam profiles then.
I don't think that falls within their jurisdiction.
