Currently, when a survivor is hooked, with monstrous shrine it takes 48 seconds, down from 60 so it's 12 seconds faster for a stage to be lost.

In the new update, when a survivor is hooked with monstrous shrine, it'll now drop their timer from 70 seconds to 56 seconds, being 14 seconds faster and bringing it back to about normal.

Wonder if monstrous shrine will see a spike in usage after the update before falling off again.

Monstrous Shrine is so terrible that no one will even think to pick it up, even with the changes. For taking up a whole perk slot it should be stronger. I think it should be 45 seconds to lose a stage. You already have to be 24 meters away, maybe could make it 32 meters to help disincentivize returning to hook.

That perk is so useless, I tried so hard using it as someone who really doesnt like camping. Because I thought, hey I will not camp anyway so faster entity progression is extra pressure from a hook. Well I was mistaken, I even timed the rescues because I tought I was going crazy.

Its useless, the update just makes it more useless, it needs either a rework or ifk what but the perk is horrible. Changed it for gearhead on some killers and unforeseen on other, as those perks actually do something.

that is another trash-tier perk. Nobody using this perk because it has 24 METERS radius. it is like 3x radius of anti-camp feature.

I wouldn't use this unless the perk is at least 60% faster. 60% on 70 second would be 43.75. in next patch, it will be 58 seconds if these hook changes go through. current one is 50 seconds but 24 meter radius in practice makes it worse.

Yeah, buff it to 50%, then it would be 46 seconds per hook stage. And maybe make the range 16 meters, 24m is very long distance, especially on maps with two floors or indoor maps.

It's possible but the easiest counter is to tunnel faster and harder. (And ensure hook stages when necessary.)

Current monstruous shrine isn't that bad as people say : if you hook in basement and just stay away from the self unhook meter, coming back every time someone attempt a save, you can get nasty hook stages and kills with it. I even pull that off with killers like Legion which aren't that good at protecting an area (and got -reps for it).

It's not a fun playstyle tho, and it's very annoying to face, so it's not a bad thing if it gets nerf.

Monstruous Shrine should have a different effect imo. Current version punish disorganized survivors… I mean soloQ*, so that's not a really healthy design.

These "crazy" numbers will sure make it soon S tier meta perk /s.

The changes just really matter for camping for the most part, MS doesn't even work for camping so it's useless.

Of course last second saves will be even more effektiv with the changes, but not worth using a horrible perk like monstrous shrine. I'd prefer to just tunnel or slugg more than using that perk xD

In my opinion the new hook time isn't that big of a deal. Besides, if you play well you can still get a 4K by just getting the downs. No need to tunnel, camp, or slug.

Besides that, MS is just not even worth it unless it's one of the few perks you have on a killer (shoutout new players, keep grinding!).

Wouldn't it end up being ~58 seconds, though?

Anyway, I think this is a great opportunity to buff Monstrous so it keeps the same hook timer as it currently is. Making it 50 seconds will keep the perk ok-ish, and it requires you not to camp to use so it doesn't undermine the change.

As it stands I think LESS people will use Monstrous, since it's going to be 8 seconds less effective than what it currently is, basically.

I made a thread on the subject here:

Even as it stands the only thing it's good for is making Pain Res proc in the basement. It really needs a buff.

@HexHuntressThighs 45 seconds would be nice to see. This perk is underwhelming so I hope the devs take the opportunity to revisit it. It really is the perfect time to do so.
