DBD without xbox live gold or game pass.

Can I play DBD in offline mode? When I bought the game I thought I would not need a payable subscription to xbox live or game pass in one single player mode.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I'm 99% sure that even if you buy an online game, like Dead By Daylight, you still need Xbox Live Gold to actually play, as it's a requirement to access multiplayer features on most games. The only exception to needing Xbox Live Gold is (as far as I'm aware), for free games like Fortnite (Fortnite is free whether you own Game Pass Ultimate or not).

Unfortunately for you, even though you bought it, you can only play Dead By Daylight if you also have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, because the entire game is multiplayer. I don't know for sure and I may be wrong, but perhaps you could play custom games or the tutorial without an Xbox Live Gold subscription, as technically they're not multiplayer, but I'm not sure.

It's easy for people to get confused with this topic, especially if they own/owned Game Pass Ultimate, as Dead By Daylight appears 'free' to install. Xbox Live Gold is included in Ultimate and Ultimate gives you access to lots of games for 'free', including DBD. However, if you cancel your Ultimate subscription, or switch to Xbox Live Gold, you will lose your ability to install DBD for 'free' and the only way to play it would be to purchase it. But like I said before, even if you purchase it, you still need Xbox Live Gold to play it.

Hope this clears everything up! 😁
