Can survivors leave the campfire?

In the lobby, we see some random survivors gathered around a campfire, as comfortable as they can be, whilst a killer ominously watches from afar. Are the survivors free to leave the campfire and wander off into the forest? From what we've learnt in the lore, The Entity's realm is big and so much more than just The Trials. We already know that the upcoming Project T game will be set in an unexplored region called The Backwater. Basically what I'm trying to ask is, is The Entity's realm a vast limitless space? Are the survivors free to leave the campfire and explore beyond the forest? Do we know if any other creatures besides the killers are out there? Or are the survivors unable to leave the space of the campfire and doomed to survive in the trials for eternity?

Yes they can leave the campfire. Survivors have done this several times throughout the lore of the game. There is even an entire cosmetic collection dedicated to a time survivors wondered through the fog away from the campfire for a carnival around the time the slow released.

Vittorio Toscano is one of the main survivors who leaves the campfire to explore the realm.

There are other beings in the Entity's realm outside of the killers and survivors. The most popular ones being a vampire and a giant spider which are shown in some tome cutscenes

Also the entity can summon killers into some parts of the realm to try kill any survivors who have wandered to far.

If a survivor is killed either in a trial or while exploring the realms, they will be sent back to the campfire with no memory of any of their experiences. Which makes it basically impossible to make progress considering how dangerous it is outside the campfire. Meaning any survival knowledge you had or progress you made will most definitely be lost if you aren't on guard 24/7.
