Proposed new killer: Mr. Bubbles the Big Daddy
I am a relatively new player in Dead by Daylight (DbD), and I really appreciate the collaborations that Behaviour Interactive has established with various horror movies and video games. Recognizing the vast creative potential for DbD, I would like to promote an idea that a friend of mine had for a new DbD killer. This idea is nothing new but could bring more excitement to the game. I think the next killer should be the Big Daddy character from the Bioshock franchise. Below, I will outline the reasons for this suggestion.
The Big Daddy character from Bioshock is beloved by many and is very iconic in the world of Bioshock. The popularity of this character is immense within the horror game fan base, making it an excellent addition to the DbD franchise. The popularity of the Bioshock franchise could be further enhanced with the potential addition of survivors like Jack or Booker DeWitt, along with an unparalleled stage featuring the chilling atmosphere of a dystopian Rapture.
The universe of the Bioshock franchise offers numerous great ideas for killer interactions with survivors, potentially providing greater depth than many of the newer killers such as Alien or Vecna. For instance, dynamic elements like ADAM or "Power to the People" machines could be used to counter Big Daddy. The Big Daddy character's voice lines in Bioshock are limited to muffled groans and grunts, which can be enhanced by having a Little Sister accompany him. Voice lines about "Angels" would definitely excite fans.
The Big Daddy character could have powers that utilize the Little Sister or incorporate elements from Bioshock's arsenal, such as the numerous weapons in the franchise like the drill or mine launcher or possibly plasmids (this is a stretch in the lore of Bioshock but you do have the practically divine Entity to enable this). The Little Sister could add extra flavor to the mori animation, making it more unique and engaging.
While this idea has many merits, there are also challenges, particularly in acquiring the appropriate licenses and permissions for such a collaboration. If the community and members of the DbD team like this idea, I recommend working with 2K Games around the release of the next Bioshock franchise game. This could promote their new game and create a symbiotic partnership between the two companies, pleasing their fan bases and providing free advertisement for the new game. Both parties would benefit from such a collaboration.
While these challenges may be significant, I believe the creative opportunities far outweigh the potential downsides. I am sure that many people in the community would agree.
