Windows of Opportunity Change

Windows has nothing to do with not knowing maps.

windows is a questionable one. even though info is valuable and playing against it can get so boring when the survivor takes you to a pallet tour, i never found it worth a perk slot. i wouldn't touch it, maybe reduce range a tad bit and that's it.
if survivors run pallet to pallet dropping all, it's a waste of resources and if maps can support such a playstyle that's a map balance issue not perk's fault.

Sure, but Distortion is an aura-based survivor perk that that is being nerfed. It’s more analogous to Weave than WoO.

I think in light of how it actually gets used that either a 20 second cooldown and it activates only in chase, or it's off when you are in chase but active whenever you're not (with a slight range reduction) would be appropriate. This would encourage Survivors to plan routes out better, and train them to ACTUALLY loop tiles, while breaking up some of its synergy with very pallet and window dense maps. Plus with a nerf, maps could once again get more resources added back. The issue with WoO IS that on pallet dense maps it creates situations where it's trivial to properly chain, but it's balanced on maps with weaker loops since it only shows you how to chain resources.
Does it need this? IDK. Maybe. It is really problematic that my SoloQ teammates will DC or give up on hook because the Killer countered this with Mindbreaker.
Maybe on that note, buff Mindbreaker quite heavily, as a counter to this perk, instead of outright nerfing WoO. That would make it incredibly useful and an amazing pick.

Being forced to run a perk to deal with a problematic perk is not a good balance.
Look at Shattered Hope. A free perk literally added as a hard counter to boons when CoH was broken that didn't solve the problem of CoH being too strong.

The downside is 2 perk slots with practically nil use for the remainder of the trial should survivors actually bother to counter the combo. Your USING 2 perk slots if your running the frankenweave (don't remember who on the forum thought that up but they're a genius) combo. Once it's countered killers can't exactly move items. It's like running corrupt that lasts anywhere from 0 to 40 (and we're stretching that number) seconds with 1 second lethal that then only gives visuals in a corner. All depending on if survivors run a item. The meaningful part comes in that the survivors are DENYING pockets of unlimited aura reading randomly scattered around the map.
We feel sorta bad for helping derail the topic so srry bout that. For our 2 cents on the mater Windows is currently fine as is to us. It has counters and the info is only good if there's actual resources and if the survivors know what they're doing. While we think people are overly relying on it, it's not in a bad spot as it's useful across the board.

I think the real issue with WoO is that it is absolutely useless against any Killer that hits over pallets and vaults, but a tad too useful against Killers who are M1 only. That's why you see Killers like Ghostface run perks such as Mindbreaker to counter it, but not Artist. Artist counters WoO by existing, Ghostface has to mindgame. It's a symptom of maybe powercreeping chase a bit too much, which is only now starting to be addressed by pallet and resource removal.
Or… they could just nerf WoO or change WoO instead of making maps abysmal for Survivors to ever loop on, reducing counterplay for them AND good M1 mains who don't fear playing around loops?

actually its fine because uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh me run to yellow throw pallet. so yeah doesn't need any changes! so glad we can all agree that this perk is fine and doesn't need to be nerfed at all

Damn, the dust hasn’t even settled on Distortion’s nerf and y'all are already on to the next. Lol

Wait for the Iron Will complaints to return personally.

It buys the killer like 20 seconds of time if the survivor goes to drop their item at the corner/edge of the map. After that the perk should theoretically be useless. But hey since a lot of bad players are in the game the perk will always get value and be unjustly called upon for a nerf.

To be fair, posts like this about Windows have been happening for a loooooong time. It doesn't have much to do with Distortion's upcoming nerf.

this reminded me of weave attunement after giant slowdown nerfs, literally following its release. survivors when will you stop compaining smh

If windows is just a crutch for bad players that run and pre-drop every pallet as many are saying then they are just creating dead-zones that will let the Killer win eventually anyway. So what is the problem.

It's fine as it is, there will always be some perks that are used for their appeal over their power level. It also keeps blindness effects relevant which is a big plus! Take self-care for example, even though most of the community deems this perk as something that isn't really good it's still ran very often. I think realistically if changes were to come to windows of opportunity I would recommend a range reduction instead of a cooldown, that way if you wanted to achieve maximum effectiveness you would have to run Open Handed to reap its full rewards.

i actually like windows even tho i don't use it anymore. i see no problem with the perk at all waa just $hit posting. i never thought windows cost me the game as killer but i do think it very strong.

It was more directed at general sentiment in these threads then you specifically.

I feel like Distortion complaints have been a thing at least since aura read has been a thing…
