Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

DBD is dead

DBD is very badly balanced.
The killer side is few and survivor matching takes 2-5 minutes (at times when there are many users).
Nonetheless, the killer side always matches in 10 seconds.

Also, survivors can easily escape unless they are very dumb or newbies.
(In fact, my escape rate is about 80-90%)

It is doubtful that the service will last until next year's FNAF collaboration.

Ive never found the game to be low on player numbers or show any indication of it dieing. Dbd is the world of warcraft of asymetrical horror pvp games, meaning people will always be glued to it weather theybleave to try another game like texas chainsaw massacre or friday the 13th or evil dead or killer clowns from outer space but they always come back either from the other game dieing or lack of content. The numbers might go down or up any time due to the odd player getting bored or not enjoying it, but the constant stream of new content keeps people playing and looking forword to it month after month without a reason to ever uninstall. New players however are introduced to a very toxic community and a never ending expensive grind for content which might hinder player numbers from rising above a certain amount. But the alredy existing playerbase stays glued to the game.

This got to be someone trying to get people to lose it.

I mean, I don't know where you're from or what MMR you're at but it has been over a year since I had to wait more than a minute to wait for a match on surv. My escape rate (and the escape rate of pretty much everyone I know) sits at around ~30% for the team (in SoloW due to soloQ and in swf cause people tend to want to go for the save. There are a few who had a "yah, no, don't save this" -phase and for that while the escape rate was higher; 50-60%-ish) and as others have said: apparently every year is DBDs last year. One day that year will come, sure, but I doubt it's gonna be this (and I say this as I hardly ever play dbd anymore cause I don't find it enjoyable anymore).

So you think DbD is dying since 2016 while the player rate has been going up? Thats a bit weird.

From 2016 - 2020 the player rate did actually triple, and since then it has been mostly the same, between 30k - 40k players in Steam. Sometimes it goes up to 50k or even 60k during events or well-known licenses (like Resident Evil) and sometimes goes a bit down, but still 30k - 40k on average.

The game is nowhere near dying.

Personally I think the game is in the most balanced state so far.

Not perfect mind you, but it's getting there.

You're probably playing for Hatch very frequently if your escape rate is that high. Team escape rate is more important than personal escape rate because playing for hatch often means the person is playing selfish and griefing their team.
