Didn't "serpant soot" give a speed boost?

Saw this on stream and now the video about it. There was a Mclean stream from like 2-3 years ago where he specifically showed this addon off after they bugfixed it the first time to give it back the speed boost. Apparently it's been broken since beggining of this year. Wraith isn't as common as he used to be and this builds even rarer so not a surprise really if it wasn't seen. It is kinda funny to see the back and forth of "it never existed" and "I know it did" though. So I wanted to ask other veterans who played this game alongside me about 3 years ago. Was this a thing?

I distinctly remember there was a boost, but even when it was bugfixed it still applied roughly halfway through the kicking animation, so by the time you'd accellerated enough to make use of it it had already worn out, which is probably why nobody remembers it. Because it did nothing.

I used Shadow Dance with Serpent (especially when it was first introduced alongside Spirit Fury + Enduring) quite a bit back in the day and remember it giving a speedboost.

Dont play Wraith much nowadays, so had no idea this was removed

it was a thing. in fact, when they first buffed wraith, they specifically buffed his speed boost to 1.5 seconds making add-on more effective then they nerfed back to 1.0 second and weakened his all-seeing spirit add-on from 12 →8 meter. after that, nobody talks about wraith.
