Chase Not Initiating

Originally thought the survivor was cheating when it wouldn't put me in chase with them but then later found that I couldn't get in chase with any of them unless I hit an m1, but then it didn't count me as chasing them so I lost chase despite running after them in the open.

I was playing ghost face and my perks were save the best for last, play with your food, enduring, brutal strength (in case this is relevant information)

I have only had this occur once and don't know the steps to reproduce.

At the start I could get in chase fine but around the 1/4 mark in the game I couldn't for the rest of the game
