I’m just gonna say it

There’s one thing that absolutely needs to be deleted and it’s about time that it happened. That would be this forum section. This one in particular, but perhaps others, if the same thing carried on.

Although there are some members that actually post some constructive things, most of what goes on here is destructive.

You can’t go for more than an hour without five threads popping up about how this needs to be nerfed, and this needs to be deleted from the game because somebody didn’t have things go their way.

I think that it’s time that the devs shut down all the complainers and fix/alter/balance around the data that they have, not the person who screams the loudest.

That’s my take on it. Have a wonderful day.

I mean this is the section where people give their opinions on things they think need changing. People are allowed to voice their dislike for things in the game, and this is the place to do it.

Besides, they don't just change things because people "scream the loudest" about it, it's a pointer to what might need changing perhaps, but something being complained about doesn't necessarily mean it'll be changed. It's a mix of feedback, data and back and forths between the designers that decide what gets changed.

Unfortunately, it's not really an option in today's perception of how a dev team should interact with their playerbase, especially if the game is ever-evolving.

Limiting/removing ways to provide direct feedback would just sour the image that BHVR has with their playerbase and all you would hear around social media/Youtube everytime something was changed the wrong way would be something along the lines of "This wouldn't have happened if BHVR talked to their playerbase".

And to some extent it's sadly right. Pure match data simply isn't enough in this game due to countless factors.

For example, no balance changes should ever be made purely on killrate. There are so many ways that certain Killers (cough Skull Merchant, Nurse, Billy cough) artificially inflate their killrate (the former much more than the others) because most players go next on first hook/go afk. I've had so many games that could have been easily a 2-3 man-escape if one teammate didn't give up at 4-5 gens.

Basing any balance changes on killrate alone would lead to many unreasonable changes.

Same goes for escape rates. Basing changes based on escape rates without community feedback would cause WoW to be promptly killed off purely because of pickrate despite how crucial it is for beginners/casuals and how, in the end, it doesn't make someone better in chase, it simply makes people not run in deadzones if something else in in range.

Likewise, without communication it's likely that the horrid Finisher Mori + Basekit Unbreakable would have been released since it did prevent long bleedouts and that was the goal. However the community (both sides for once) rallied and pointed out all the flaws and toxicity this would cause and it was scrapped (although it seems not entirely unfortunately, hopefully the community rallies again) because of the info they got from people as opposed to pure internal data.

Unfortunately despite all the complainers and those that whine just to whine, most of the community's feedback does help paint a clearer picture than what sheer numbers could ever do (whether BHVR actually uses that feedback well or not is hit or miss).

I'd feel safer knowing this forum section is gone, but I hope that if it does stay up it is somehow helpful to the devs. Lot of very conflicting things get posted in here.
