Chests could use a buff

Right now there's not really much reason to ever open a chest as a Survivor, unless you have one of very few specific perks which gives a special benefit from it. They are more often than not detrimental to use due to the time spent finding and opening, and you can always just take a strong item in at the start of the trial anyway, with add-ons which chests don't provide.

Personally, here's my idea for changing chests:

- The first item found in each chest has a new "Salvaged" modifier. Salvaged items have a 33% increase to their base amount of charges.
- Salvaged items have a 50% chance of having a Very Rare or lower rarity add-on attached.
- After leaving a trial with a Salvaged item, it loses the Salvaged modifier.

This isn't meant to make Survivors much stronger, but to add some value to a mechanic which has been largely ignored by players. Pharmacy and Ace in the Hole would also need small changes to accommodate.

Definitely a good step. As long as chests give generally better items and actually have a chance of having addons without needing perks they'd be much more useful.

The only issue I can think of is, if I brought a key (with add-ons presumably) I wouldn't see myself dropping it for something found in a chest in most situations. It's already a strong and rare item.

I still think chests should give slightly stronger items than what Survivors can take in from the loadout menu, in some small way.

    My ideas are:

    • The rarity of items in chests should be higher (Plunderer's basekit)

    • There could be special items that are better then normal and have a small chance to spawn in a chest. These couldn't be obtained otherwise.
