The developers should be more honest with players

As the title suggests, just two days ago, a post I made back in December last year reporting an issue was closed by the developers with the explanation that it "Not a bug." Yes, after a full 10 months, they finally decided to respond.

Here’s the link to the post:

The post discussed the attack behaviour of Pinhead's chains. In one patch, the attack behaviour of Pinhead's chains was changed, which also affected how he interacts with PWYF (Play With Your Food).

Previously, Pinhead’s chains were only considered an attack when using the Engineer’s Fang add-on. If he wasn’t using Engineer’s Fang, it wasn’t counted as an attack, meaning he wouldn’t lose a token of PWYF.

But starting from a patch somewhere between the release of custom bots and the release of the Skull Merchant (patch 6.X.X), Pinhead’s chains began being counted as an attack in all circumstances, even without Engineer’s Fang. This means every time he used his chains, he would lose a PWYF token, making it impossible to use PWYF effectively. The same issue applied to the reworked STBFL (Save The Best For Last).

I reviewed all the patch notes released during that period, but found no mention of this change, suggesting it might either be a bug or a secret adjustment.

After I discovered this, I repeatedly reached out to the developers about the issue but received no clear response. It wasn’t until two days ago that the developers finally acknowledged this wasn’t a bug but a secret adjustment.

I can’t understand why the developers made such a change and didn’t include it in the patch notes. Even admitting they made the change was something they avoided doing, and this passive behavior is really disappointing.

I reported this issue over several patches, but I was constantly ignored without receiving any explanations.

If this was a secret change, why didn’t they just admit it when I first reported the issue? Did the developers think that by not responding, they could brush off any concerns until people gave up? What’s the point of addressing this issue 10 months later?

I hope the developers can offer a reasonable explanation instead of always ignoring or staying silent on such issues. Stop eroding the trust that players have in you.

I feel the same way. No matter how small the change is, a change is still a change, and as the developers, it's their responsibility to communicate these changes clearly to the players. Sometimes, they deliberately hide certain changes and don't include them in patch notes, and over time, this kind of behavior will only lead to increasing disappointment among players. I hope they can realize this. Dead by Daylight is a very fun game, and I don't want it to be negatively affected by such unprofessional actions from the developers.
