OK, am I dumb and missing something or is everyone else dumb?
4 games as survivor
3 games where people never bothered to unhook.
Like…######### is going on?!!? Am I having a bunch of bad luck? New players coming in for the event with no idea what to do? Do players get a TON of points for completing one gen and it's worth throwing the entire game over it? Does everyone just hate Tippy now?
Is this happening to you or is this a Tippy problem only?

I noticed that too - was playing killer and survivors literally abandoned their teammates on the hook by focusing on gens (Event).
That happened multiple times actually. That is bad - they are shooting themselves in the foot and makes other survivor players mad.

Some survivors are only focused on generators.
They have more time now, even if they tend to overestimate it.
On one of my matches tonight, I had hooked 3 survivors before the fourth one finished his generator and went for a rescue.
If I had played nasty, he would never have reached that hook and the game would have been over. (But I was playing the event, not trying to sweat for points or something.)

Tonight me and my duomate ran into a Desthslinger in RPD. His Corrupt Intervention blocked all the usual suspects gens in the main hall, and me and my mate got into the other side where he constantly switched between us whenever one of us was on a gen.
Our other two random mates? Did absolutely NOTHING! ALL the time we were chased or helping each other or doing our gens, they did nothing. 5he only gens that got worked at were our two under the killers nose.
I guess they wanted to wait Corrupt out or something. And then they didn't come for the safe until it was too late: 4K at 4gens

Happens every event where event BP is only given to the survivors on the gen when it finishes instead of to all survivors still alive in the match. People don't want to lose out on the event BP so they glue themselves to the gen. Too many times people do 99% of a gen only to get chased off and have someone else come in to finish it - person that does 1% gets event BP and person that did 99% gets nothing. They're not about to risk leaving the gen to unhook a teammate and lose out on event BP because someone else runs over to finish the gen. This also contributes to the sweaty matches - survivors try to finish as many gens as possible for event BP, killers try to hook as quickly as possible for their event BP, and it's just a vicious circle of trying to get as much event BP as fast as they can.
They need to make 2 changes in events for survivor event BP. 1. Give all alive survivors in the match event BP when a gen is finished and 2. Give event BP for safe unhooks. Survivors won't worry about missing out on event BP if they leave the gen for an unhook and they'll actually be encouraged to leave the gen to get more event BP by saving their teammate.

You're not wrong. Played as Clown with a Halloween costume and survivors just let the survivor on hook perish.

First, 100% agreed. Never understood why they changed that because iirc, it used to be EVERYONE got the BP bonus when a gen was completed
I'll have to pay more attention but at least in the game I remember (the last one that prompted me to write this), the gen wasn't anywhere near completion. I suppose they can still be stupid/greedy there, just doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

Lunar New Year was the one that always did it which is why it will always be my favorite. I think they did it maybe once or twice for other events before going back to only those on the gen when it finishes. It's been a constant complaint of mine that they don't do it for all events.
It's a combination of dumb/greedy mixed with the vicious circle of sweat. They make poor excuses for why they can't leave the gen even though it's nowhere near finished because they think they might not make it back before someone else finishes it - maybe they will get chased by the killer and no one will come to unhook because they're finishing gens or maybe someone else manages to finish the gen before they can make it back from unhooking and then there's less gens available for event BP that previously was the only/best way for decent event BP.
Obviously to those of us getting plenty of event BP outside gens this makes no sense but those that even during an event won't step outside "normal" gameplay it makes complete sense. Why we need to encourage them with "normal" gameplay event BP like everyone alive gets event gen BP and unhooks give event BP. That will hopefully get them to help keep us in the match so we can keep kicking respawning pumpkins and using the event can't see anything and will probably die smoke bombs. 😂

hooks are so weak for killers now, survivors don't even need to unhook!

I didn't take this into account! Yeah, that sounds like the culprit and it would be cool if they could change that somehow. I can understand why finishing the gen is tied to specific dailies or tome challenges and achievments, but for casual play and this events, every survivor who is alive should get the bonus, as most of them contributed in some way to the success of the trial. Sure, you would now and then have some sneaky rat that hides in the corner to gorge themselves on the hard work of others, but overall it would be much more healthy if everyone partook in finished gens so that this "gen stealing" doesn't happen anymore and people just play normally.

They have the coding to do it because they did it for the Lunar New Year events, event gen BP went to all living survivors when a gen was finished. It was my favorite event. It didn't eliminate the sweaty players in an event (would take more tweaks than that) but it did make it less than a normal event.
If I get event BP from the gen I was chased off of at 99% or while I'm being chased for multiple gens worth of time then I don't care if someone hiding in the corner also gets it. I'd rather get the BP than miss out on it just to spite some random hiding in the corner.
