I need advice for a 4th perk slot on Survivor to replace Distortion. Please help đ
I have not played in over a month due to the Go Next Epidemic but I'm going to try to play again today.
I own every perk in the game at Tier III and with Distortion being nerfed, I don't feel it's worth a perk slot any more.
What perk should I replace Distortion with? I'm thinking WoO because at least I got a shot of looping against Lethal Presuer. However, I only used the perk once years ago and all the yellow really bothered me.
Any suggestions would help. Camping and Tunneling are not common in my games but aura reading is.
My current loadout is
- Kindred
- We'll Make It
- Resilience
- Distortion (Need Alternative)
Any perk suggestions would be appreciated. Even if you think I should change up my other perks. I just can't play without Kindred in SoloQ đ

of the record, killer dont see you but only after hook.
or boon: shadow step0 -
Windows is always a good shout. Maybe throw in an exhaustion perk like Lithe or Sprint Burst instead. Lithe + Resi is a good combo. If you want an alternative to Distortion, Object of Obsession might be a good shout, but if you're not super confident in chase the passive aura reveal can backfire at times.
Or you can wait until the patch drops that buffs Distortion, they're making it 15s to recharge so it'll probably be worth again after that change.

Windows. Since the Killer will now be able to see you more often, making you vulnerable for chases, Windows shows you resources around you, which works as a compensation.
Also, may I suggest you to test out the new Lucky Star instead of Kindred? It may seem even stronger than Kindred in it's current state and is really good for solo.

Oh, I didn't know that. Will that buff have to go through the PTB first though?

I didn't know Lucky Star had a change, I'll load up the game and read its description.

It's now one of the best if not THE best solo Survivor info Perks that exist at the moment. Gives Iron Will and old Lucky Break, as well as mapwide Bond + 1 gen's Aura for 30 seconds.. it's amazing.
Also, it works excellent on locker builds.

Empathy is an underrated info perk, and can inform you of where the chase is happening via the injured survivor aura, so you can avoid it. As well as being more efficient at healing team mates and getting more out of your WMI.
Alternatively Renewal/Second Wind pairs great with WMI too, giving you another heal automatically for the price of one faster heal, up to twice per match.

I think it's coming through a hotfix, so probably not.

Id personally use Sprint Burst, but if youre adament on keeping Resilience then Id say Dead Hard. Would make it safer to stay injured to take benefit from it

I like Sole Survivor for aura blocking, personally. Unfortunately, it needs other Survivors to start dying before it begins to work, so it won't counter Lethal. If I suspect a Killer has BBQ or something, I just get in a locker anytime they hook somebody.
I hear confident loopers also recommend Object of Obsession (to see the Killer's aura anytime they read yours) but that perk is a death sentence to me whenever I get it in Chaos Shuffle so I wouldn't run it. I don't think there's a solid alternative to old Distortion, to be honest. I think taking another perk to read the Killer's aura is a better plan than hiding aura now (so you can be where the Killer isn't).
Side note, I also love Lucky Star. It was good before but now it's even better. You can use it to see where a chase is happening, so it's good for reading the Killer's location as well.

Resurgence. So much value every match.

DH - helps with staying injured for Resilience.
OTR could be useful.
I mean, you need to bump your potential to prolong the chases, since aura reading killers will know where you are most of the time soâŚ

I am and always will be an unironic pebble advocate. Especially because it plays into a more stealthy playstyle like Distortion otherwise would, even if it isn't so much enabling it as it is giving you a new option through that playstyle. Otherwise, Plot Twist is good.

If you want something to replace Distortion, maybe try Sole Survivor. It's the closest you will come to consistent aura blocking.

Does the Killer Perk Sloppy Butcher still effect this? Like if he hits and downs you with Sloppy, once you're unhooked, your health immidetley starts depleting?
0 -
It does, but I always duck down immediately after the unhook and it usually hits around 50% healed by the time the unhooker gets the prompt and starts to heal me. So I personally find it still valuable and use it most games these days.

Object of Obsession
0 -
Yeah it does but the value you get from that perk is still worth it. You can heal yourself in few seconds after unhooking and others don't have to waste 16 seconds to heal you since you are already 70% healed. Has saved me and my teammates multiple times in endgame.

A few choices:
OTR: great anti-tunnel
WOO: great for looping
Reassurance: very useful against tunneling & camping (I suggest you look for CopeDBD on youtube. His last video is a brilliant demonstration)
Iron Will: great to dodge killers (no sound is very disturbing)
Bite the bullet: silent healing (it's part of my main build)

Lucky Break is one of the best survivor perks, I run it in every build, and I get value from it nearly every single game.

Wow, I can't believe how awful this feels. All my Killers are still running LP with BBQ and I thought Distortion started with 2 tokens. It only starts with one.
I don't blame any Killers, they're just doing their job but SoloQ is not worth it at all right now. Even in my Killer games someone just quits.
SoloQ was so bad, I decided to just do the Killer role for my challenges. Out of 5 Killer matches, I had 3 in which people went next, one where 3 Sable players griefed the Mikela on hook and one where the Survivors just memed around playing the đ¸.
3 -
Don't worry about quitters. Some "survivors" do it if they feel slightly inconvenienced. Griefers should be reported though. I'd have freed the Mikela (using the anti-face-camp mechanic to let her unhook herself) and killed the Sables. Depending on how bad they behaved, I'd have slugged them to death.
Survivors playing that instrument is pretty nice. That's usually a ticket for an easy exit as far as I'm concerned đ
The Solo-Q experience varies. I rarely have complains. My survival rate is maybe 55%. Some matches are pretty discouraging, mostly because of rage-quitters and newbies strangely put in my lobbies.

Instead of one perk, here is a fun build suggestion (from a Blendette)
note: the idea isn't mine. Some streamer had a few matches with it and I thought is was a lot of fun.

I tried that but it wasn't until she hit 2nd stage that I found out what was happening. I chased the Sables but 2 just hung around and one stayed upstairs.
She was hooked right outside the house on Basham where Survivors can block you in the room with the generator. I felt so bad for her.
I sent in at least 5 griefing reports with recorded video evidence and nothing happened during 2v8.
I got a feedback report only recently for reporting a hacking Dracula.
I'm really disappointed that people are being allowed to grief and not face a temp ban. This is really out of control. I go out of my way to record, upload and report. It doesn't sound like much but it gets tiring.
2 -
Reporting is great.
I've been griefed against once or twice in more than five years (Once the killer joined it with the 2 jerks. All reported with video evidence).
As killer, I rarely see griefing. Maybe once every few months.
So rest assured that, in the grand scheme of things, it's not that common.

Bardic Inspiration is currently bugged (?) so all it really does now is meme.

There is no 1:1 ratio but the closest perk to Distortion available now is possibly Shadow Step and as you know that has several drawbacks.
I would not run Sole Survivor because it only blocks auras within a limited range after other survivors begin to fall.
I wouldnât run OoO unless youâre keen on looping or comfortable with learning how to loop.
Alert a solid perk as it provides valuable information at a reasonable price. Beyond that⌠maybe Premonition? Youâll get an audio cue when youâre facing the killers direction (kind of like Small Game but with the killer). Since thereâs no reliable sufficient countermeasure to blocking aura reading perks you might try perks that at least give you the jump on a killer who has seen your aura, so you can pre-run from them.
Distortionâs nerf was so awful the devs basically have to try to fix it in a hot patch but it still wonât be what it was. Eventually theyâll nerf down killer aura reading or give survivors more perks to block it, though, so hold on for a bit.

I loved Distortion until its nerf. Heck, I even used it back when it first came out.
Since its nerf, I have 3 preset builds, but a really nice one is:
- Quick and Quiet
- Lightweight
- Light-footed (silent footsteps is actually really nice)
- Lucky Star
The amount of chases I've escaped from and confused the Killer has been great.
I also have a complete aura reading build. If the Killer wants to see me for a lot of actions, then I'll see them too.
- Alert
- Babysitter
- Bond
- Inner Focus
Bond helps me to help track down my team mates easier, and Babysitter is actually really nice so I can make sure I don't run in the direction of the killer, or to know if they're coming back to the hook after saving. Doesn't help against stealth killers though.

Try to have fun with the event mode by trying to farm smoke bombs and pull off Were Gonna Live Forever plays or something
But for an actual perk replacement, I think you'd appreciate Poised, Count. Its new ability to detect killers sounds like it'd help you start matches on the right foot
0 -
How do you make a smoke đŁ ? I have not seen one all day on either side.
0 -
You need to eat only peas for the whole day and wait - smoke will come out on it's own.Wait you haven't tried to use a smoke bomb against killers yet? :D
You should.
Edit: You need to collect void energy by SMASHING THOSE PUMPKINS OR KILLER'S HEADS WITH THE PALLETS, or doing gens⌠Then interact with the void well in the void. That's how you get them.
1 -
I switched Distortion for the pebble perk. It's nice to see a killer using their 4000 aura perks to try to track you, just to get send into the wrong direction because I threw a pebble in the other direction đ¤Ł
2 -
I love Lightweight. Granted, doesn't stop aura reading but makes tracking harder for a killer

This is my current build on surv: dh, otr, wmi and woo.

There's a couple good options available to you with that basic shell, I think.
If you want a flat replacement for Distortion, your two options are Off The Record and Shadow Step. Both are viable and good, but have different upsides/downsides, so consider carefully.
If you want other stealth perks, Iron Will works very well with your Resilience for good stealth while injured, and Lucky Star got a very nice buff recently, as others have pointed out.
If you want to lean into chase rather than stealth, you could run Lithe to pair with your Resilience, Finesse to give you vault speed when healthy as well, Champion of Light (+ a flashlight obviously) to gain tons of distance at every pallet, Sprint Burst to just delay chases entirely, or Dead Hard if you're confident you can time it.
If you want general all-rounder perks, Deja Vu will fit in every build and always excel, Empathy is great tracking and will slightly combo with your We'll Make It, Resurgence is good survivability, Strength in Shadows is exceptional reliable healing, and Alert is fantastic tracking that also helps out in chase.
If you're open to full builds, I'll recommend something like Overzealous, Inner Strength, Counterforce, flex pick with a map for tracking totems. Surprisingly consistent and pretty fun, it has a built in side objective that actually rewards you.
2 -
I'd say Off The Record is your best bet here. Endurance to protect from tunneling and its a poor man's distortion while it is active. you could also run Iron Will since I see you have resilience for chase purposes
