Original wraith lore

Hey BHVR, can You leak original wraith lore?

We know that auto heaven and junkyard is not original wraith place, swamp is. And wraiths lore was changed, we accept this, and deal with his current lore.

But can we know what was his original lore?

My personal idea is that Hags lore is actually Wraith lore.

Firstly, where are you coming up with the swamp being Wraith's original domain? And I'm asking for ACTUAL proof and not some "I heard from a friend of a friend's uncle who worked at BHVR". You're talking about a realm that came out THREE chapters after Wraith was nearly finalized IN THE BETA (literally just having sound issues), where Autohaven was ACTUALLY complete. Sure, the swamp was in development (and the Pale Rose boat was nearly completed), but it was always attached to Hag (given the fact the cannibal village was fully modeled and textured, and was always part of her lore), who at that stage was at most still in early conceptual prototypes. If you can prove this (with an actual developer statement), I'll concede this point.

Secondly, yeah, Wraith's lore has changed from when he released, and yeah it is mostly worse. Where he currently gets told directly that he's an executioner for Azarov's gang, he originally figured it out on his own. And instead of putting Azarov in a car crusher and yoinking his skull to use as a weapon, he instead bludgeoned him until his skull was broken into tiny fragments (which is honestly probably the reason that part got changed, since Azarov's Skull is clearly not shattered on his weapon). This isn't exactly new information, though I guess even the wiki stopped showing that, despite usually being so thorough, so people may not be aware of this.

Finally, why would Hag's lore be a repurposed version of Wraith? Even disregarding the fact that Autohaven (which even aesthetically matched Wraith quite well) was FAR more complete than the swamp that was clearly attached to a then unknown Killer, they are fundamentally different characters. Hag's lore has issues, but most of those came from her archive making the "remote village" aspect of her base lore confusing. Yes, Wraith's power was always a bit confusing before his archive revealed the bell was his father's from back in Nigeria (and even him being Nigerian to begin with, though his name was always a bit of a give away), but Hag's lore is fundamentally built into the lore you believe was originally meant for a character with an entirely different powerset. Not trying to be mean here, I would actually love to hear the explanation for this idea, but I just find it asinine without an explanation.

Swamp realm was made alongside autoheaven, mcmillan and farms. In game files and original artworks there is also mention of fourth killer that was connected to autoheaven.
Whole wraith design, his general look, and most importantly addons looks like connected to swamp, and more importatnly tribalism.
His addons suggests that Wraits was connected to some sort of magic, based on sketched symbols.
Bio and Tome lores of Wraith, and Hag are retconing some aspects, or feels unfitting to eachother, exactly as one could expect from non original peaces of history.

One may say its only pressumptions. But even so, it feels too coincidental.

Besides. There was a BHVR interview where they said that Swamp was Wraith realm, tho i cannot find it (or maybe my memory just plays with me).

But noone can say, that Wraith addons fits his lore, and do not fit Hags lore.

Crotus Prenn was also made alongside those realms (even if placed in Coldwind at the time), Autohaven was again WAY further along than Backwater was (again, the boat itself was nearly complete, but the rest of the map was considerably unfinished), and Wraith's design does not look swamp-like to me. Tribal, yes, but not swamp. Though I digress that last part may just be personal taste.

And without seeing the game files and artworks you're talking about, I'm left without a reference for the entire beginning argument (and I really feel like the wiki would have made some kind of note about all of this with how thorough they are). But even if they're is supposedly a secret killer attached to Autohaven, isn't it possible that they simply didn't have a realm attached to the Killer at that point? Like, for example, Myers? I'm not finding anything about Haddonfield existing in the BETA, and while the game was still in super early access, the fact that so much has been found to begin with tells me that this was a deliberate choice, since Halloween came out before Of Flesh and Mud. Or Nurse, who had to have been pretty far in development to be released two months into the game's launch, but what would be her map was then located in Coldwind. Or the unreleased Teacher, who existed in the files and even had perks and add-ons show up for years.

Though you're not going to hear an argument from me about Wraith's power making no sense for his base lore, because he was always the odd one out until his archive. How a car crusher got his hands on a Bell that turns him invisible never really made sense. And yeah, I can see how, at least design-wise, they're more reflective of Hag's drawings. So I can start seeing where you're coming from with that point, even if I still feel Hag was still likely too early in prototyping for them to have been made for her.

My personal theory is that Philip was member of some kind of tribe or family with magical connections where he learned how to write magic symbols which power depend on material he used to write those, but with warning that all magic has its price.
At some point he was kidnapped by another tribe made out of cannibals. He lost his family during that time. Philip found a bell laying on the ground and drew symbols using his own blood. This made bell magical, allows him to become invisible, and stronger, but at the same time changing him somehow.

Since original killer from autoheaven was not finished and swamp map was also not finished. Devs changed Wraith lore, putting there lore about autohaven worker, lore that belonged to unfinished killer.
Hag was developped based on a creature that was spotted on swamp map arts, and Wraith lore was used and little changed, creating the Hag.
