Thoughts on 2024's Haunted by Daylight

Survivors and Killers of every rank, wouldn't you like to play something strange? Try this mode and you will see, BHVR's game of Haunted by Daylight.

First of all like last years event, Killer really has no incentive to go into the Void Realm. The worst case scenario would be killer goes into the Void and all 4 survivors have time to reset or repair gens for free, all just so the killer can deposit Void Energy into the well to get Haunt missiles. For the Killer to go up the stairs to deposit the energy and drop down to the portal to leave, they have wasted about 30 seconds which is if every survivor is working on a gen is 120 charges repaired of the 450 needed between 5 gens. I think while the Killer is in the Void Realm, there should be a stackable 2.5-4% gen speed reduction for every survivor that IS NOT dead/hooked/dying/or in the Void Realm themselves.

The Void Realm itself is very nice, I like its vertical layout that I wish could be incorporated into some future maps. The Void Crystal is also a very good item that will most likely become a perk in the future but it sucks that it currently is bugged to possibly permanently remove the players scratch marks for the rest of the Trial. I am however not a fan of the Haunt missile, I've seen many killers just camping a hook and using it to double tap a survivor because there is no down time after launching the Haunt. You can even get close to a survivor in chase and launch the Haunt and perform a Lunge Attack and double tap the survivor in chase as I've notice that when you launch the Haunt, it takes about a second for it to fly out. If this was to return for the next year, I think it should have a 2.7 second cool down from launching to prevent double tapping but personally I would like it to become a Haunt Trap that the killer can place in a spot kind of like SM does with her Drones but up to 6m. If the Survivor triggers the Haunt Trap, they suffer an opposite effect of the Hag's Phantasm Trap, they will scream and run the opposite direction from the Haunt for 2 seconds thus making the killer have to strategically place them. I also like the pumpkins respawning so at the very least, if you're having a rough game, you can spam pumpkin smash and get a butt load of free points.

Finally the Blight Serum, this event specific add on was released 4 years ago and is still the most ignored part of the Halloween events. Literally the fact that it REPLACES your power until you use it at the start of the Trial and after every hook. Very few killers can make use of it without the detriment of removing their power. For example the Pig can deal with its drawback as with her power, her M2 is placing Reverse Bear Traps on downed Survivors heads. A solution is having a separate hotkey tied to the Blight Serum Rush but I know one of the complications of this is that controller players don't have many button to map it to (rubbish, most controllers has like 12 buttons). There's already a button that is designated to break pallets/walls/gens/boons/environmental objects like pumpkins and portals/locker searches/survivor pick ups/survivor hooking/exit gate opening/hatch closing ALL mapped onto 1 button based on your Killers positioning. So let's map the Blight Serum Rush to a button that has a singular use (I will reference an Xbox controller)… the B button. The B button solely drops carried Survivors and nothing else and you can not use the Blight Serum Rush while carrying a Survivor. So if we map it to the B button and not over-write the Killers power, I think the Serum would be used much more often because honestly you won't have a single moment in this game when a Nemesis is rushing towards you without the Blight Serum.

I believe this is all I have on my mind.

i love event objectives and i find them really fun to interact with, despite void being a waste for time to go in as killer optimal play wise.

However, i feel like players are massively optimizing the fun out of event despite separate event queue was made.

    My thoughts are this:

    • The status effects you get while in the void are not needed.

    • The Haunt needs a slight cooldown, or a rework.

    • It's a detriment for both sides to go to the void.

    • Make the offerings give a bonus to everyone. No idea why they're personal
