Survivor Bots Have Perfect Knowledge of Bear Trap Positions

SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE:

I have been playing in Custom matches recently, messing around with add-ons and perk combinations for Trapper. Survivor Bots seem to know every location where I have placed my traps. At first, I thought it was because they could hear me placing the trap down, but I noticed in most chases that the bot would freeze for a second before selecting another loop. Almost as if they "saw" the trap even if said trap was on the other side of the window or pallet. Since the bots have perfect knowledge of placed bear traps the only thing you can do with them is create dead zones since the bots refuse to go anywhere near them unless there is an objective nearby. Stated objectives include totems, generators, and exit gate switches.

I will note that I have no idea if this bug affects Ranked Trials, "It probably does," since that would require a player to DC, but I do know that it affects both Survive with Bots and Kill the Bots Tutorials!

PLATFORM: PC

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED:

  1. Load into a custom match with Trapper or play the Kill the Bots Tutorial, "If you do a custom match indoor maps are a good way of recreating this bug."
  2. Place traps near pallets, windows, and generators, "It's even better if you place them at doorways or narrow corridors."
  3. Attempt to chase a bot to where you have placed the traps
  4. The bot may freeze for a second or two once it gets nearby to the trapped locations
  5. The bot will pick another loop if possible or just run to the edge of the map if no loops are nearby….

Yeah noticed this while doing some testing and had to create a trap by hooking one bot in the basement and blocking all exits with traps and waiting seeing distance. Another bot disarms a trap and goes down I go reset the trap and push them out and only then one of them would step on one. They 100% time manage to dodge the traps before that.

As of the 8.4.0 update, bots still have perfect knowledge of bear trap positions. I don't know if this bug affects other trap-based killers.

As of the 8.4.1 patch, this bug still actively occurs. I would hope this will be fixed eventually as it sucks to play against bots as Trapper since the only thing you can do with his power is create dead zones with them. I double-checked and this bug affects the Kill the Bots Tutorial which sucks for new players that do the tutorial since the Trapper's power is partially useless against the bots.

I would like to note that this bug still exists in the 8.4.2 patch and has existed since October, about three months now. I hope this gets resolved soon as playing Trapper against bots is almost the same as being a m1 killer with no power.

They also have twoo-frequent ability to aura read a Killer around walls again, and I have noticed in customs they still hit with flashlights when you look down and can do things like Reveal Ghostface or Stare Down Unknown from strange angles or distances.

Bots have wall hacks anyway so no surprise that they know of traps

@Linkdouken Yes, they do have wall hacks, but the bots used to randomly wander into the beartraps whether it be in chase or looking for a gen to complete. Now they don't and avoid them preferring to run to the edge of the map instead.

As of the 8.5.0 midchapter, this issue still occurs so I decided to do a few test matches on both my PC and Switch and found some interesting things about the bots and this bug.
    1. It doesn't matter where the traps are placed in the loop, they will ALWAYS avoid that loop even if there are no other options available nearby. They seem to run to the edge of the map when this happens.
    2. If the trap is placed in front of a lit hex totem, the bots will usually mindlessly walk into them only if they are not in a chase and moving to cleanse the hex totem. Any other time they will perfectly avoid it
    3. If the bots are put into a situation where traps block all available exits, they react based on whether they are in a chase. If the bot is in a chase ONLY then will they run into the trap. If the bot isn't in a chase, they may disarm the trap or run into it. This is the ONLY time the bots may or may not run into the trap. On all other occasions, they avoid the traps like plague which sucks since some of the fun of playing trapper is catching survivors in traps.
    4. Despite having perfect knowledge of all trap positions, they don't disarm every trap they know about.

Here are the logs from my PC when I tested to see if the bug still occurred:

This bug still occurs in the 8.5.1 bug fix patch. I do hope this is fixed before the next Iteration of 2v8 since bots will be added to help alleviate queue times as needed and is unfun to play against.

I play customs regularly with friends, 1v1's, and alone for fun, and I can say this bug is still very prominent in the current 8.6.0 update. I'm really looking forward to seeing this patched. Thank you :P

As of the 8.7.1 bug fix patch, this issue still occurs. I do hope this will be resolved soon, as it affects both custom and public matches.

As of the 9.0.0 update, the issue still occurs. This really should be resolved soon since it affects the custom, public, and the two bot tutorial matches. I can't imagine being a new player and being confused about why the bots never step into the traps. I understand that they should avoid some traps, for example, traps the Trapper puts down in a chase, but they shouldn't be aware of traps placed out of audible range. This bug should really be fixed sooner rather than later!

As of the 9.2.2 update, yeah, it still happens. It seems even worse now, as bots that are put into a situation where they have to either, attempt to run by the killer, or run into the trap, they always pick running into the killer now. It's kind of ridiculous at this point. I do programming as a hobby, and I will admit that debugging is a time-consuming process, but a bug like this existing for almost a year now really sucks. Especially since this affects the tutorials, which gives a pretty bad experience to newer players. Please fix this bug eventually!
