Steamdeck and postgame chat

Hi!! I recently got a steam deck, and learning all things steam (Im from xbox)

Anyways pre and post game chat are there, but when I click on it my keyboard doesnt appear… Ive only found one reddit response and I still cant fix it (Im assuming its my fault because I know nothing about this thing)

If someone can help me with the worlds simplest Step by step, Id be forever thankful
