Okay, hear me out. What if, along with the rift, there was some kind of monthly or bi monthly story element to DBD. Every player (both killer and survivor) gets to see cutscenes that revolve around a story centered in the Dead By Daylight universe. But you have to achieve a certain amount of rift progress to unlock the next part of the story. The story could center on any of the DBD characters, though probably with a focus on originals for licencing reasons. Or it could focus on all original characters and killers unique to the DBD realm.
It would also be a good way to gauge interest in future killers and survivors.
