huntress hits not registering through small gaps

SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE: huntress hatchets hits do not register through any small gap. they used to work but no longer do as of around the dracula chapter.
PLATFORM: Steam
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED: huntress hatchet hits are not registering through small areas. the splash sound is made and the hatchets go through, but the hit does not register. tried this in customs to make sure it wasn't latency issues and still the same result. the holes are plenty big enough and used to work up until around the dracula chapter, before the haunted by daylight event. ex but not limited to: railing on thompson house, between rock and tree on macmillan estate rock tiles, boarded up window on shack.
