This is kind of strange
So I'll preface this - I'm really excited for Shoulder the Burden. I think it's an excellent addition to anti-tunneling tools. And I'm thrilled to have a cultist and an actual evil survivor - no semi-amoral producers this time, no tortured pillow fight champions or numbers guys who were accidentally responsible for war crimes and felt super guilty about them, no, this one is straight up evil. Was in the middle of abducting and murdering Haddie's brother for the Entity and froze up for a second, then steeled herself through and was going to commit, and the Entity is punishing her for her moment of hesitation. She still worships it and wants it to forgive her so it can make her a killer, which means killing the survivors she is now surviving alongside, because she liked the feeling of being powerful and stalking the Entity's realm. She's more deliberately evil than a lot of the killers we have. Hell, she did more to participate in premeditated murder than Susie ever did, to say nothing of Artist or Spirit or Wraith.
Which is why I think it's weird that all of her perks, and quotes, are super altruistic.
She can throw away a permanent health state to give the whole team (really terrible and undertuned) aura reading. She can take people's hook states, which is like For The People Mega Ultra Plus levels of altruism. She has a self-healing perk, but it only works if you heal someone else and then actively get another survivor to start healing you, so it's actually a "don't waste time healing me, I'll heal you and then take care of myself!" thing.
The last time we had a survivor who was meant to be dubiously moral, Yun-Jin, most of her perks reflected her selfishness - profiting from teammates being hooked, staying hidden while other teammates got chased nearby. It feels like Taurie was given her perks at random, if not given perks for a completely different character.

Perhaps she's either actually not as bad as she tries to be, hence her hesitation, or it's the entity messing with her because of her perceived weakness.

Maybe she's simply adaptive to her environment and understands the value of sacrifice for the sake of mutual survival. Though I do agree it's a weird choice to give perks like those to a character like her.

i think Shoulder of burden is the type of perk that has potencial to create permanent slugging meta. This perk is forbidden perk that might get deleted in the game for being too strong/impossible to balance around. something to look out for.
if i start losing games to shoulder of burden as perk, i am 100% going to be a killer that slug every survivor, every single game with no second thoughts. slugging to what it is now mostly niche strategy may become the most main stream thing to ever exist. similar to 3 gen in the overcharge/cob/eruption meta.

All they really have to do is change her quotes on the perks. You could view the perks as untrusting or a necessary alliance already. Or even her thinking it's all a test.
Clean Break could easily be something like "I don't need your help I can do this myself" or "You'll just mess it up"
Shoulder the Burden could be something like "I need you alive" or "You can't even be trusted with your own life" or "This is a test to see if I can obey their rules".

Her perks to me seem to embody a flagellant mindset. Wanting to take the hit to aid others out of (pragmatic) empathy, or because she believes she’s the one that deserves it, or that she’s the only one capable of handling it, or maybe out of straight masochism.

I kinda like feminem, im just wondering what cosmetics they can make for a cultist other than - cultist robes. Like will she get a bikini like sable later? Or is her christmas sweater going to have her stabbing haddie's brother on it? Lol

This is not what this Thread is about.
@Topic:
Yeah, her Lore and her Perks dont really fit with each other. And considering that the Lore of new Characters is pretty fleshed out, it either means that there will be additions in the Tome which features her OR simply the fact that Lore and Perks are designed by different Teams which dont really have much contact with each other (we already know that different teams work on different Killers without much exchange between them, but I would still guess that her Tome will make her Lore fit more to the Perks).

The topic at hand is about flavor and lore and you’re complaining about a (lousy tbh) perk..? Go outside. You need to get ahold of yourself.

Shoulder the Burden is gonna be one of the worst solo queue perks in the game
Multiple people bringing the perk to the match, only 1 can use, the others will run the game with 3 perks
And people are going to use it at the worst possible time0 -
I agree. I’m getting mixed messages. With a Survivor like this I would think that her perks would be like on Yun-Jin’s level of some type of team sabotage.
Though an argument could be made that her perks are perks that help the Killer like the Invocation so…

Oh, now this is a really interesting way of looking at it. I don't think it's empathy - she still wants to be a killer, and I'm not sure how helping others escape the Entity is going to help clear her ledger. Taurie's pragmatism would be sandbagging all of her teammates, dropping pallets in front of them and giving the killer a thumbs up at the down. But wanting to take on suffering and embrace her punishment so that she can purify herself and ascend? That'd fit.
I could very much work with this if her quotes were just a little different. If Shoulder the Burden's "It's not your time yet! Go on!" was something like "Mighty Black Talon, I take this pain unto myself willingly!"
LMAO. The most insidious ploy a survivor who wants to help the Entity could ever pull. "Hey, guys, come to the basement! I've got something really cool for you! (it's crows)"
