Deathslinger hook breaking in 2v8 with no reason

SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE: it seems whenever you catch somebody with your spear before they round the corner on a tile, the chain will randomly break, I've had this happen at least once every game not a common bug but might be how the chain connects before they go to corners, or whenever you get a status buff from your teammate say the undetectable it breaks the chain is what it seems like?
PLATFORM: Steam/PC
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED: It seems to occur when you get a status effect in the middle of your reeling action from spearing a player while they are about to round a corner
