When are you going to permaban VPN killers?
They're repeat offenders. Hitting me that shouldn't be a hit. Checking their Steam account, they're playing from China and use a VPN to play in America. Oh, here is the kicker! A Russian spamming in chat with a 999m/s+ ping.
You need region lock on your game. Anyone above 90 ping should be automatically booted and receive a ban. It's as easy as that.

"Anyone above 90 ping should be automatically booted and receive a ban."
Me when my little brother starts downloading free ram on another PC:

Pretty sure a 90 ping limit would get Americans banned from their own servers. People forget that NA is huge we have so much moreempty land compared to Europe

I live close to a server and pay $110 a month for the fastest internet and I till hit over 90 sometimes although it’s rare.

So you want Otzdarva perma banned? Dope! Sounds like a great idea! He uses a VPN ever since he got DDosed. Oh and Scott. Those are the ones I know at least.

How about no? If you have good internet connection and close to the server good for you but you small minority. Mostly players paly around 70-150 ping cause dbd servers doesnt have enough locations. If you lose cause of ping its really just skill issue, learn to know timing instead of complaining about problem that is not exist.

Nice oxymoron !
And yes kick/ban everyone over 75ms. We don't need lagging players into a game which it played to the nearest frame ! After all, we are in 2024 & everyone should have optic fiber or better…0 -
Yeah, because people trying to avoid DdOS, griefing, or just visiting another country or place and wanting privacy should be permabanned from DBD! Genius!

I agree with you that bad ping should not be an advantage for the killer. It makes zero sense and I have a lot of discussion posts about this problem as well but they just get ignored by behavior.

I don’t think people should be banned for bad ping but it shouldn’t give them an advantage. I can’t think of any other game—assym or otherwise—that rewards players for having bad internet connections. Just this one.

75 ms is way too harsh, I think anything over 180 should be where the line is drawn or at least 200.
1 -
Most people who use VPN's do it because it's known having high ping gives you an advantage. Obviously players shouldn't be permabanned for having poor connection, but if you have 180ms+ to the server you're connected to you shouldn't be able to queue for games.

For Honor
Its even worst than DbD

Me being nuked off the face of the planet for having 91 ping in an online game because I live in the middle of the woods and getting internet providers that provide solid internet speeds for cheap is practically impossible.

All of Australia was set up originally with copper instead of fiber optics, so they're years away from upgrading that completely. And this game has precious few servers across the globe, especially in Asia and in South America.
There's no way a limit of 90 or going after VPN is feasible for this game.

People have been lagswitching in video games for decades, for as long as online PvP has existed.

They just need a ping limit to connect to a match, particularly for killers.
I am in OCE but I like to play survivor (and survivor ONLY) on NA servers when it is quiet in my region. My ping is usually ~160ms which is not ideal but still very playable. The downside is I get hit 10 feet through the other side of a window and through pallets so I cant greed at all.
But I have played against killers with similar or much higher ping and it clearly gives killers a massive advantage, as I am getting hit when I am nowhere near them on my screen, making it close to impossible to out play them as I have no way of knowing where they actually are.

While a ban would not be the best solution to this problem, BHVR can take a page out of Valve's book and allow players to limit their acceptable matchmaking ping, like you can in games such as Counter Strike.
Pros:
- Setting a low value will ensure that you get a fair match
- Hit validation will be better synced between players.
Cons:
- This setting will affect matchmaking times negatively - but it is a worthy trade-off for better ping.
- This will not block VPN users from foregin countries.
Alternately, BHVR could crack down on VPN use, forcing players to stay within their regions, and deny any VPN service access to their servers. That's the last resort

But that doesn’t give them an advantage. In most games it’s a drawback.

Well that’s saying something… and it isn’t good.
