Review new accounts first few posts
I feel like in a lot of circumstances this would be very helpful. I mean this morning I woke up and checked the forums and I see someone post about BHVR being Satan incarnate. These trash bait posts honestly need to end. I don't know how such a system could be implemented but the community managers seem to be fairly active so I don't think such a thing would be too difficult to implement. Just wanted to ask what anyone else thought on the subject :)

People have been asking for some kind of restrictions on new accounts being able to create new threads for quite a long time now. If it hasn't happened by now, unfortunately it's probably never going to happen. We'll continue to have racism, gore, hate, and all other kinds of trashposts spewed all over on the forum on weekends/holidays, those accounts will get banned, and then they'll just come back on alt accounts and do it again because there's no hardware banning.

It's been especially bad recently over the weekend. People know the mods come on way less frequently then and that's when they spam. Hopefully something is done sooner rather than later

This has been suggested before, but doesn’t seem like something they can and/or want to implement.
Either way, I’ve grown immensely bored of the bait and spam situation on these forums and recently switched to Reddit as the primary place I discuss DbD. It has its shortcomings too, don’t get me wrong, but the upvote/downvote system tends to make quick work of troll posts and I’m finding it’s overall a better experience.

I suggested this earlier today. It gets old but I agree with the above responses from @TheArbiter and @OnryosTapeRentals

I have to be honest, some of the stuff posted is downright hilarious and makes me smile or even laugh from time to time. As someone that often has a hard time laughing, this often makes my day.
However, a lot of these posts are downright nasty and vile. I agree with the responses above as well. There needs to be some sort of filter / restrictions.

Actually that's false, it's not one person - please do not assume.
We cannot restrict new accounts from being made and posting - reviewing each account before allowing a post to be made is not feasible, nor would it help given a lot of accounts are not connected to any other accounts.
Unfortunately we will always have people who make very random posts, some of those are genuine however, and immediately calling people trolls or alts for accounts that you think are not relevant or spammy isn't the way to go. If something breaks the rules, then please report it. We have moderators covering the weekends, if there's reports made they will deal with them.

A review is not necessary. Maybe just a couple of days, where they can only post on already existing topics before they can create their own posts.
This might help in reducing the amount of similar posts that get created (by whoever). The time/test period takes a bit of the energy put of their, sometimes radical, approach and makes them reflect on other posts and therefore think about what they want to do and how to do it before they create their own posts.

Unfortunately that's not something that can be implemented - we're guided by the software in cases like these.

How is restricting going to change anything? They are still going to do it after restrictions lift.

Ok, thx for providing insight.

Is it possible to limit new accounts to only being able to comment for the first 30-60 days and not start new threads? Or maybe maybe make it to where they have to make 100 comments before they can make a thread? Anything to slow them down a little.

then we'd have problems for bug reporting and feedback, we don't want to limit people being able to report things.

This is disappointing to hear. This is just my personal opinion, but I feel like limiting the ability for new users to create feedback/bug-reporting posts is a small price to pay to help reduce (possibly significantly) the hateful garbage and other spam that gets posted on weekend and holidays when mods are not actively monitoring the forums. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would be willing to bet that a vast majority of feedback and bug reports are not coming from brand new accounts.
Are there any ideas that the moderators are considering that might help mitigate the problem? It's really disappointing to see these responses that essentially say that nothing can be done about it.

As explained we're unfortunately limited by actual forum software, which we're not able to do anything about. I will discuss things with the moderation team - we do have all 7 days covered here, and holidays as well, just to reassure you there.
Whilst I do understand your frustration, limiting new accounts from creating feedback and bug reports is not something I'm willing to do. The spam that you mentioned, would happen regardless as they're not actually new accounts for the most part, some are months old, a couple of years in a few of the cases…so it would have no effect.

I can definitely see the flaws of implementing such a system and it sucks that the forum software wouldn't be capable of doing such a thing anyway. I do see that not everybody is a troll and that there are genuine new players just looking to bug report or ask for help. It's an unfortunate situation overall.
