Hook bubble sometimes does not block auras as intended

As far as I am aware hook bubble is supposed to block auras whether we like it or not and it was changed a while back. And in todays patch 8.4.0 I witnessed in a game that after someone got hooked their aura was visible through the hook bubble and I was kinda happy thinking it was reverted back but turns out it was just a bug.
