Below, you'll find screenshots. I don't know how to fix this, or how to even fathom how/why this happened.

Even the option to turn it back on has vanished.

I also tried "restoring to default". It did not solve the issue.
Edit: Restarting the game solved the issue, but it said my account was "signed in elsewhere". Super strange.
