Avoiding certain players is a thing now and I kinda understand
Yesterday I was in a lobby with very chatty survs and they talked about how they started to avoid people from Russia, Ukraine, Kazachstan, China and sometimes France.
I would never support such a thing in real life but when it comes to gaming … let's say people from these countries have a history/stereotype on them for cheating and being toxic/salty for 20 years now.
Dbd is not different from MW2 nowadays and the amount of cheaters I see on a daily basis is almost as high as the amount of toxic and salty players I encounter (on both sides). After a while (at least for me) I realized that most of the time when I encountered cheaters or toxic survivors it would be players from Russia. This doesn't really surprise me as it was not even a question if russian people would cheat in MW2 back in the days.
So the stereotype kinda proves itself in dbd once again (and Apex for what I can tell).
I kind of don't want to participate in dodging lobbies becaues of somebodys origin but I don't want to ruin my mood either by playin against a 4 man swf russian squad or wallhacking tunnel killer.
The problem may root in society somehow but the core issue is that cheating in dbd is still way too easy and forgiving to not take steps on your own.
I just want to point out that people are starting to dodge certain groups of people because cheating ruins the game. And that is why bhvr should tackle cheating way more aggressive, because if you split the playerbase apart a game dies fast.

I'm russian and you are not wrong. I don't want to say what I will say, but I clearly playing different game in my region.
– Russian and Arabian players are by far most sweat players in this game, and one of the most skilled players too. What I see on streams in, for example, US region is fight with babys most of the time, while me sweating every 2 or 3 games even on killers I didn't play for 6 months or facing 4 slowdowns Nurse after 3 games lost in a row in soloq.
– One of the most popular cheat creator is from UA or RU and it's more common here because of easy access to it. The fact you could claim free DBD on Epic was a huge failure, you still can buy new account with this game for less than 1$, if previous one was banned.
I honestly sometimes dodge lobby from my region too, when I'm not in the mood to have tournament with my meme build. Because as soon as I see comp Ace/Renato in the lobby, I know I will see: Azarov Key offering, 20 second chances, 2-3 Syringes, 5-6 minutes match. Cheaters are not THAT common to me, btw.
I just want to say, there are a lot of very nice and chill players in our countries have too. Unfortunately, a loud and nasty minority casts a shadow over the rest.5 -
I have a friend in russia that says he cant even play dbd if he wanted to since allot of games are blocked over there and simply do not show up on steam etc. But even he seems like he would just play as optimal as possible like tunneling off hooks lol because i usualy vent to him sometimes and he ends up agreeing with the person im venting about usually lol. Aside from that, killers with chinese lettering for their names, 99% of them have triple tunneled and slugged the rest of the team and did all manner of griefing, if given the chance. i just suppose they have a very different gaming mindset over there where all that matters is winning to have fun.

Honestly I have not had an angry Russian in endgame chat for longer than I can remember, must be in a different MMR from me.

I am going to have to beg to differ.
I have not seen a single Russian player so far, (save maybe a few over the long years) who shows any level of skill at DBD.I am aware I cannot speak fairly in general terms, but in my experience, I have played with more Russian that clearly lack the fundementals of DBD.

I don’t want to say you are wrong completely, because huh, I myself part of “Russian community” just because it’s my native language (however I’m from different place). But… it’s stereotyping. Really bad one, I’m not gonna lie.
— Yes, maybe we are too sweaty. I’m watching many content creators, and since Russian team also won World Cup from Hens recently, it’s pretty clear how we treat this game. Even myself on this forum was supporting more competitive mindset, tho I’m not actual try hard compared to people I know. But chill players existing too. Believe me, mutual agreement of tunneling, gen rushing and try harding doesn’t exist in our community. But no, I don’t treat this game personally, nor do others from my region. I never was salty towards losing, doesn’t matter did it happen because I was tunneled myself or tunneled someone. GL is message I give most of the time, or some silence.
— Yes, competitive behaviour may lead to toxicity. However, the absolutely same toxicity I was getting from many different countries, even racist slurs, so I wouldn’t say here it’s a prevalence. Majority of offences I got was actually on English/German/French, and I think it was even more personal for me. At least I didn’t get death threats from players of my region… yet. I know they exist.
— I can’t agree with cheating here, because actual community despise such approach.
Russian people may see as “prevalence” in toxicity, but you shouldn’t ignore one fact - this one of the actually really popular languages. The whole CIS speaking this language, and many countries of former Soviet Union too. Russian speaking gaming society is really broad, so it may create an impression a lot of people behave like this. However it’s not actual true.Because reasonable people will keep quiet and not make a big deal out of themselves. You might not even know you're playing with a Russian—at least, I can tell from my own experience. My Steam profile and username are in English, and my friends list barely gives away the group I belong to. But many people I knew in the game sincerely believed I was from, say, England or Germany, just like them. Until I told them different
And I’m getting a little tired of people who tries to tie my ethnicity with gaming. At least because they wrong in 99% of cases with my ethnicity. At max because it’s actual toxicity
