Is the DBDL statistics reliable?
I’ve asked my friends who work as game developers, as well as those in fields that require statistical measurements, and they always say the same thing: "Numbers never lie." I believe DBDL devs think the same way. But my question is, how reliable are the DBDL statistics, considering we have a community that likes to create "fake or unreliable statistics," mostly coming from main survivor players.
A clear example is "The Skull Merchant." I don't know if they can read, or if they've read the patch notes, or if they’ve played her in the current patch, or how much they hate her?
The Skull Merchant in the current patch has been heavily nerfed to the point where she's almost unplayable (she might even be weaker than The Trapper). They reduced the number of scan lines from 2 to 1. The Skull Merchant no longer gains haste from survivors having a Claw Trap. The strength of the Hindered status effect when scanning a claw-trapped survivor was reduced from -10% to -8%.
When I play as a Survivor (Solo), and face The Skull Merchant, my team almost immediately gives up. They run to the hook and point at it, essentially asking The Skull Merchant to kill them. Likewise, when I play as The Skull Merchant, in 6 out of 10 games, survivors almost immediately give up.
This happens all the time, and it could be an assumption that some killers get nerfed even though no one in the community is talking about it, or some killers might have an unusually high kill rate.
This might be the reason why The Nightmare hasn't received updates until 2025. In 2022, The Nightmare had a very high kill rate. This made me wonder, "Are most survivors in DBDL just people who like troll games?"
I would like to send this issue to the devs to check on the "reliable statistics" to ensure that some killers aren't buffed or nerfed based on exaggerated numbers.
To put it in perspective, The Nurse has been one of the strongest killers since 2016 and has hardly been nerfed. And when I play as a solo survivor, my team almost never gives up. They try their hardest. I don't understand why, against such a strong killer, they try so hard, but when it’s a much weaker killer like The Skull Merchant in the current patch, if played seriously, almost impossible to lose, they give up so easily. This makes me worried that The Skull Merchant might not get updated soon because some survivor players might intentionally troll the game to keep her kill rate high, so she won't get buffed.

These are the stats for the month and this was a pinhead release. so the statistics show that he was very cool at the release, but they are not true. look at Nurse. Is this really the weakest killer in the game? no, she is the strongest

These stats are from Sept. '22, almost a year after Pinhead had been released.

Nurse has usually had the lowest kill rate because new players read "Here is the strongest killer in the game, and she's free!" aaaannnnnnddddd then find out you need to put in hours and hours of practice with her & take loss after loss to get good, plus not being very controller friendly either. Since most aren't willing to do the work they drop her after losing too much.

To add to this:
She is also the one Killer where you cannot transfer any knowledge from other Killers to her. If someone starts playing Wraith for example and starts doing well with him, switching to Trapper will have immediate results and despite being a new Killer for this person, they can use their knowledge from Wraith to perform better with Trapper.
This does not work for Nurse.
And obviously that Nurse is a free Killer, which tanks her Killrate a bit.

Not unless your masochistic and go no-blink bamboozle spirit fury enduring battle Nurse! 🤣
