Do you think Freddy's rework will be nerfed because Survivors complained?
Much like the rework of the Twin that was complained by survivors and then reverted everything or get later nerfed.
It hasn't been tested on PTB yet, but people are already complaining that the new Freddy is OP.

The Twins rework was reverted because it was outright overpowered. Survivors had every right to be upset with it.
As for Freddy’s upcoming changes, we won’t know how strong he is until we test it. What I will say is though, is that the healing teleport will probably be very unpopular amongst survivors.

Twins also wasn't liked by the few Twin mains that are out there.
I'm sure lots of numbers will get tweaked, that's the point of the PTB and feedback. But the general concept? Effects on awake survivors, more teleporting ability, switching between snares and pallets - no, those have been asked for for a long time.
3 -
Twins were nerfed because the power was ridiculously overpowered.
Freddy will really depend on the healing teleport. I'm still not totally sure on it. I feel like a lot of killer players will be as annoying as possible with anti-healing builds. Luckily Freddy has anti-synergy with Coulrophobia and you can wake up+pre-position. But we'll see. There's a chance that he's just really tedious to play against a la Onryo.

The only element of Freddy's changes I think might cause some controversy is the teleporting to healing survivors. The rest of it seems fine.
6 -
When the PTB is live we will be able to fully assess the strength of the rework - until then, it's very difficult to tell if something is too strong or too weak. It's not about "survivors or killers complaining", we use our own judgements on what needs to change based on how things play out.

I hope not

going off of how quick they nerf things when survivors complain about killer buffs yes most likely something will be removed or nerfed its a guarantee at this point

Could you clear some things up about the rework if possible?
For instance, are snares a projectile now?2 -
"It's not about survivors or killers complaining"
looks over at Skull Merchant
The lie detector test determined that was a lie.

the PTB Twins was Nurse on steroids and way too overpowered. It was a good decision from the developers to reverted everything and give them some QoL changes. Not only survivor players complained about the PTB Twins but also killerplayers and Twins mains like Lynxi. This game does not need any more S Tier killers because it ruins the balanced and the fun of the game. Therefore, the developers did the right choice to not bring this version live. Sure Twins still feels bad to play and face but PTB Twins would be much more worse.
I think we can trust the developers that they will take all of our feedback and make the right decisions. Also since they know how important this rework/update is for us, the playerbase, and the game. I can understand that some players are afraid that the devs could nerf Freddy in the wrong direction due to "false" feedback but I think we can handle these things with good feedback. So let's see how the PTB Freddy will look like, give our Feedback, and do our best to let the developers know in which direction they should change/nerf/buff/tweak PTB Freddy to get a good live version.

I don't think they meant Freddy can teleport to survivors if they're healing, but rather Freddy can see sleeping survivors if they're healing while asleep and can teleport to a nearby gen. Considering freshly unhooked survivors are awake, this shouldn't lead to an increase in tunneling or anything.

No they littrely said he can teleport to healing survivors
5 -
I'm not going to argue with you... I'm just going to come back to this comment when PTB hits live asking where the separate "teleport to a survivor" interaction is.

Why would anyone heal in the dream world when you can go to any alarm clock on the map to wake up? Survivors will learn this very fast just like don't hide in lockers against Dredge.
0 -
yay!! a good friend of mine will appreciate this
1 -
that just makes it extra slowdown which is still very nice

Freddy can teleport to ANY survivor via using gens. The dev post section your referring to was pointing out a new info buff. Like I said though, I'll come back to this in a week or however long it takes PTB to come out. Something tells me you're going to make excuses about what you're picturing not being there.

You also have teammates. Most healing takes place with a teammate. If either person is awake, they'd just wake up the sleeper first.

”[NEW] The Nightmare can now teleport to completed, blocked, and endgame Generators, as well as any Survivor healing in the Dreamworld. Dream Projection on a healing Survivor will teleport The Nightmare within 12 meters of their position. Upon completing a teleport, Survivors within 8 meters will be revealed with Killer Instinct and gain 15 seconds to their Sleep Meter.”

If the kill rates are high, yes it will be nerfed
Chucky is an example

It is quite literally right there
Key phrase being "The Nightmare can now teleport to completed, blocked, and endgame Generators, as well as any Survivor healing in the Dreamworld.

I'm confused how will we lock on to the survivor healing if we can't see them? Only killer instinct procs everything needs an aura to kick on too to tp

it will probably work just like Pinheads teleport to a surv solving the lament configuration
4 -
Pinhead box works the exact same way. You get killer instinct on it, and you press the button.

The only problem i see healing teleport. Everything else looks fine. But we can't know before we test it anyway.
We tested Twins on PTB and they were simply overpowered. There was no way BHVR would allow them come to live.

But Freddy' teleport have cooldown 30 seconde and doesn't work if the survivor is awake.
Is the 30 second cooldown time for teleporting is OP?
0 -
I think it will probably be toned back but until the PTB actually happens it will be hard to tell.
I really dislike how BHVR started to buff anything and everything, in my opinion it is okay that some perks are little more than memes and not all killers are comp ready.
There are just too many perks/addons/killers in the game, so making everything strong will result in all kinds of unexpected metas that will create more balancing nightmares (no pun intended).
1 -
I've heard nothing but disappointment about the freddy rework, actually. Nothing about being OP, more about nothing original and he feels the same as other killers.
Is this rage bait? Asking for a friend over my shoulder lol

We don't know and should not speculate until this becomes live. If it is too much it will be toned down.
The Freddy rework looks very good and gives me hope for other languishing and legacy Killers, it alongside the Myers, Sadako, and Pig updates are proof that M1s can be updated and made to work even with simple kits for the modern DBD experience. "But Pinhead is too finicky" and "but Ghostface is simple and always doomed to weakness" is no longer an excuse and I look forward to seeing what will happen next, especially for Killers like Legion that badly need an overhaul.

isn't whole reason why they changing freddy is because he sucks? sounds counter-productive to buff the killer only to put to lowest level.

The only thing I'm mad about with the Twins rework getting scrapped is that it didn't seem very well thought out. It was a mix of a numbers change and other strange decisions which either made the killer overpowered, or didn't make any sense. Like the Hillbilly rework with the overheating chainsaw 🙄, it felt rushed and half-cocked.
If the Freddy rework ends up with him being strong, it's a given that survivors are gonna complain. It's very unlikely that he'll be anywhere near the strength of scrapped rework Twins, but they'll complain nonetheless because it sounds like he'll have actual gameplay against them at loops. There's people right now who would probably DC against Freddy because, "He's an overpowered killer." We just have to hope the devs listen to rational minds about this topic, and not more of that.
I was gonna say something about the people harping on the Twins point you made (a bad example, but an example nonetheless), but they seem to have addressed it and moved on, rather than shifting the conversation. I'm proud of them.

Like i said, "we can't know before we test it". I will see how it's work on PTB.

The 2 big questions I have are: -
- Is microsleep immunity after clock/hook a thing still?
- Does the killer instinct on survivors healing in the dream mean asleep survivors doing healing action, asleep survivors being healed, or both?
The answer to those questions is gonna be pretty important for this TP to survivor mechanic.
The other minor question I have is do skillcheck misses still pull you out of the dream? Cause that now seems to be weird with the widely available clocks, and I've always hated the fact that RNG determines if Freddy's power does things or not in both versions, and thematically I don't like the bouncing in and out of the dream concept via skillchecks... you should be in the dream, or you should actively have to move to escape it, not sit at a gen looking to miss a SC that may or may not ever come.
Regardless I'm a little more positive myself for this rework. The main thing I always wanted from Freddy is ambiguity about when you're gonna fall into dream... to me being unclear whether you're about to fall asleep into the dream or not is the very essence of the fear from Freddy. It's something I felt is lacking in both versions of Freddy... OG Freddy you get pulled into the dream when Freddy wants you by drive by yoinking you (its better but still predictable), and old Freddy is literally a standard set timer that you can see at all times…
With these new sleep progress powers where Freddy can get a boost suddenly, it would be harder to predict exactly when you'll fall into the dream, and thats pretty cool... but of course if you can still see the timer then its not gonna achieve that... 😒😒😒😒😒

idk survivors complained about the 3 Gen meta and it wasn’t nerfed till 7 months later
Skull merchant had to wait months until she was gutted
Blights OP addons stayed since release and was only nerfed last year
There’s examples of survivor stuff that was nerfed instantly like the infamous 1.9.2 patch, Boil over, Mettle of man, scavenger, MFT,
It’s not just one side
5 -
Let's see how it plays out. Can't survivors just choose not to heal if they are in the Dream World? It doesn't seem like that strong of a buff against smarter survivors.
1 -
Exactly!

Well cause there's only one box and it's tp to object for pinhead what if multiple Survs heal for Freddy how will it choose?

I really really hope there is a chance of getting his best part of the current kit back: Faking Teleports.
Without, his most unique Mindgame would be dead. At least let uns fake teleport to gens but not to healing survivors. This would allow us to not encounter the situation of starting a Channeling and survivors dancing in front of us while we cannot cancel. Class-Photo wasnt popular for that reason.0 -
The removal of teleport faking is my favorite part of this update.
The absolute most annoying thing about playing against Freddy, is when they spammed 99% teleports every few seconds. Canceling a teleport never should have been given such a reduced cooldown.
And Freddy is getting enough buffs overall, that teleport cancelling doesn’t need to come back. And if it does come back, then canceling a teleport should trigger the full cooldown timer, so that the 99% teleport spam is still gone.
3 -
Depends how long the Channeling takes place. If we Freddies can teleport as fast as Sadako for example (instant at the new location with an animation) you dont have the helpless-situation locked inside a Channeling-Animation at the place you currently are.
0 -
I see it as a good thing and a bad thing. The teleport lock on can be pretty slippery, and it's good to be able to cancel so you don't accidentally teleport to the wrong place.
0 -
Then have the canceled teleport trigger the full cooldown timer.
As a survivor, it’s super obnoxious when I’m repairing a generator, and it is bubbling every few seconds, because a Freddy player thinks it’s cool to spam 99% teleports.

we haven’t even tested the changes so we need to see how it plays out. But the healing teleportation is definitely is a good concern and if it turns out to be OP than it should rightfully be toned down.

SO I get to test it on the PTB but no amount of changes stop the tunneling, camping, and slugging. I get that making changes to evolve the game but no matter what perks changes are introduced there is a non chase epidemic of killers and no amount of changes to a killer or perk will change that.
Also the PTB hasn't really been taken seriously since Venca, they end up nerfing everything after it goes live because it's just a small percentage of players and the majority of players don't play like that on certain regions.

Could argue that Twins still are overpowered…

Just like everything in this game it needs to have elements on surv and killer side that are enjoyable. Skull Merchant is a good example of this. She was never op or even really considered strong, but received nerf after nerf. A killer has to be enjoyable to play into for them to be strong. That's why people play blight games and DC nurse games (I know people dc blight games, but broadly speaking.) Generally people can deal with blights strength because there are elements to looping him that are fun. I think the Freddy rework is in the same boat. If it is going to be this boring to play into, survs are going to dc/complain until the killer is either weak or fun to play into.

So uh what part of nerfing every single facet of Skull Merchant's kit with zero counterbalance and also leaving her in a bug-ridden state was "fully assessed"?
0 -
Since this is the part everyone either forgets or conveniently leaves out:
The current state of SM was never intended to be permanent. They said several times, including before any recent changes at all, that they're reworking her. Which is the correct, long term solution.
Unfortunately that amount of effort isn't something they can just push forward in a week and will take Dev and creative team time.
