How Long to 'Reset' Survivor MMR?
I quit DBD last year, after giving 3.4k hours of my life to the game.
Just this past weekend, my girlfriend and her siblings decided to pick up the game for their weekly sessions and they appeared to really enjoy it.
However, because my girlfriend was using my pc/account, I could tell they were not being provided the usual new player experience. After 7 painful blowouts against Killers far more familiar with the maps, the meta, and the objectives, they ended the night against a Spirit who did not injure anyone and let them all escape.
My concern is that the group's patience for learning the game could wane if MMR does not adjust fast enough.
Is it realistic to expect that MMR will fix the situation? Should I be hopping on throughout the week to accelerate the MMR adjustment—will helping other survivors escape, but intentionally dying in EGC, increase my MMR and/or reduce my rank decay?
Ultimately, I would like to see my girlfriend and her siblings enjoy their time as much as possible. It seems at the moment that my account's history is weighted more heavily than the 2 brand new accounts. I also feel for the poor solo-queue who has been paired with these newbies.
Anyone have a similar experience and able to set my expectations?

If you're getting rough games enough times then yes, MMR eventually adjusts same as for Killer.

There is no "Decay" if I remember correctly, so sadly it only lowers like that by losing a lot. As long as I'm not mistaken, its just another for the pile of problems with how MMR was incorporated in this game.

And that's the real issue, NOT that MMR itself is a bad concept for the game. I can't take it seriously when people blanket statement say, "MMR ruined the game! It would be so much better without!" No! How many years did people suffer in this game, or get unearned bloated egos, because of complete random matchmaking? The devs' EXECUTION of MMR is bad.
Initial drop MMR, where you'd wait a minute or 2 to get a lobby, but you'd always be put with players of your own caliber, was near-perfect (It actually showed how bad killers had it, because the moment they went against 4 opponents of their own skill, they lost constantly. This led to the devs buffing killer.). They just needed to count more than simple kills/escapes (Count match time, gen speed, amount of hooks, etc.). They tried to rectify that with team MMR, but I don't think it did enough. The big problem was that at some point, the devs decided to make the MMR way loose. No longer would a 9/10 player be facing only 8-10 players, but they'd also be facing/paired with players as low as 4/10. That DESTROYS (reasonably) predictable gameplay. You don't know for sure what to bring, because if it's gen rush survivors or tunneling killer and you didn't bring your counters, you're screwed, and if you did bring that stuff and then went against noobs, it's a 1-sided overkill/bully simulator. That's why all of a sudden, everyone defaulted to gen rushing/tunneling, because the unpredictability made you have to play safe.
So I feel for people who are put in the wrong MMR bracket. The game should know to give you opponents of similar playtime and caliber, and it would if the devs knew what they were doing with MMR. What I don't like is people winning because the game is so easy for them, and then the moment they encounter any resistance at the mid-higher levels, they cry "Killer OP!" You could make the same argument for killer, but I wouldn't, because it would be wrong. 😎 Anyway, this MMR system will definitely put people off of the game, because they're being bullied by players with 2000+ hours when they've got less than 2. It needs to be fixed.

What I can recommend is creating her a steam account (if she doesnt have one already) and family sharing. That way she can play the game on her account which would be brand new as long as you arent playing anything

Im confused as to why if a certain hockey supporter is gone (if i get banned for this I swear yall can take the $2500+ I spent on this game and stick it in yall goal post), why hasn’t MMR been removed?

As far as I understand it, it won't matter how much they derank on your account because they'll never be put into the testing bracket that DBD (supposedly) has for completely brand new players.
For that reason, I agree with Shroompy and think a new account would probably be a much better way to start them off. It's a good time to start playing since there should be lots of new players from the recent Bone Chill Event.
When I started playing on Switch before cross progression was a thing, it only took about 10 games to find myself in a similar MMR band (though probably a slightly lower one) to my PC account on both Survivor and Killer, but the games were definitely different for a little while.

This is a really great suggestion, thank you. I completely forgot about family sharing—this never would have crossed my mind.

Agree with that.
The issue is that MMR is very loose and VERY restricted in what it takes into account.
Of course everyone will feel like tunnelling is justified, because it is (among else) fed by the MMR rules.
Also the tutorial sucks, so new players have no idea what is actually gonna happen in matches.

I know someone who was a competitive level player but they quit and started just messing around and dying constantly in public matches. It took them about 2 months of dying constantly to the point they now gets killers who are so inexperienced they don't know how to pick up survivors lol
