Can we start banning streamers for smurfing?
It is extremely lame and actually legit griefing when some uber sweat with over 9000 hours in the game makes an alt account just to make the lives of newbie killers/survs miserable and I feel this behavior should be punished with extreme prejudice via a sledgehammer to the knee of their main account.

The MMR system is designed to assess new players’ skill levels after a couple of matches and move them to the appropriate bracket.
Ayrun’s hardcore solo survivor shows this pretty well. Starts on a new account and after a couple of matches of easy games, he’s then being matched with P100 killers.
Anyone who plays a lot (like content creators) will have their MMR move to where it should be pretty quickly. The only way they could keep “smurfing” is to buy the game hundreds of times over or intentionally lower their MMR (which is unrealistic and accusations of this have been debunked several times over).
That is to say, no, I don’t think bans for this are warranted because I’m not convinced this is legitimately happening with any significant frequency.

I have nothing to add to that besides my support for the statement.

You crossed path with a content creator doing a Hardcore Survivor challenge didn't you?
In all seriousness, the mmr system doesn't let smurfs stay with newcomers for long so experienced players will quickly go against other experienced players if they absolutely demolish them.

This is also fairly standard and the dark under belly of contemt creation. In pretty much any game you can think of, you tend to find that the high skill games, don't make for good content. People want to watch pop offs and crazy plays in 30s, much harder to do regularly against equally skilled players.
I mean what are we really advocating for here? Preventing a player from buying the game and starting again by using their IP? How, for example, would you differentiate 2 people living in the same house?

If your content relies on griefing newbies, then mabye you should be firmly ushered to the door and urged to find a different game to create that content in. Why should newbies suffer so some jerk can get clicks?

How would you prove smurfing though? I know there are streamers with suspiciously easy matches but we can't know whether that's just their time and location or whether they are going off stream with an AFK Knight.
Also there is nothing in the Terms and Conditions preventing someone from creating an alternative Steam/PSN login and for those in shared households it is quite common for multiple people to play on the same machine, with Family Sharing access to other people's steam library.
