Is lobby dodging considered “unsportsmanlike”?

I know it’s against the forum rules to encourage things that BHVR has defined as unsportsmanlike. Does lobby dodging fall into that category?
The reason I ask is because it seems to be the only way to deal with the non-functional SBMM. I play killer and solo survivor. When I play solo survivor, I get matched with brand new players all the time. I have no problem escaping or making it a reasonably close and fun game if my teammates know what they’re doing. But going in with players that have less than 100 hours, which happens regularly, gives me basically no chance. I’m not going to knowingly go into a game like that.
If BHVR are not going to fix matchmaking, which seems like a lost cause at this point, the only choice they have given us to is take matchmaking into our own hands.

To be perfectly honest, I really dont think it matters that much if you Lobby Dodge or not, it's one of the most non-issues Ive seen people complain about.

How should it be sportsmanlike to begin with?

Unsportsmanlike is too strong a word imo, but it is like passing on what you think is a problem to others.
They tested and then removed showing Prestiges in lobbies just because of the amount of lobby dodging and/or shopping around. That tells me ilt messes with their matchmaking system a lot, and I imagine they are looking at ways to strengthen it further.
Maybe one day the lobby will become locked, or even there won't be a lobby at all. We'll see. The only legit reasons I see for the lobby existing anymore are the killer having the opportunity to prepare for items, and the chat box. Since most of the playerbase cannot even see or use the chat anyway (and it has a dubious reputation) that prolly can go as well.

Lobby dodging ruins the match for 1-4 players. If a spot is empty, autofill ignores all matchmaking rules (or most relevant ones), thus you can get a god player in a baby lobby, or a baby player in a god lobby. If each player simply wants to win, then this basically ruins the match for all of one team as the autofilled player typically makes the match a 1-sided stomp.
Now with all that being said, is that unsportsmanlike? Yes and no. Colloquially, yes, obviously, you are ruining matches. People say declining an end of game handshake can be unsportsmanlike, so I think deliberately wasting 15-20 minutes of someone's life easily counts (again, colloquially). BHVR definition and ban use of unsportsmanlike though, nope, not at all. Check out the 'Information Center → Rules & Info → Game Rules' to see the actual exact phrasing.7 -
It's not against the rules of the game and you cannot be banned for it, but lobby dodging can mess up the matchmaking for everyone else in the lobby. This is true regardless of who dodges, Killer or Survivor. This is why if that happens to you, the entire Lobby should just back out and dodge Killer included, so MMR can be recalculated properly, that is if you care about that.

Matchmaking in DBD isn’t too bad, I find the initial matchups are pretty fair. That all gets thrown out the window when someone dodges a lobby. Now matchmaking doesn’t care about fair or even, it just wants to find someone, anyone to fill that spot ASAP. Anecdotally, my most lopsided games occur when someone dodges a lobby.

I wouldn't call lobby dodging itself "unsportsmanlike," but there can be unsportsmanlike reasons for it. Maybe you just got into a lobby and a friend wants to play, so you back out to get into a new lobby with them. Me, I usually only "lobby dodge" when I get the rid ping bar. I don't want to play a match when I have a high risk of lagging or rubber banding.

Where does the line get drawn. They consider crashing the game during the Offering screen or after bad behavior but avoiding lobbies are fine. Any other game and you are committed to the match as soon as a lobby is created.

I think it effects matchmaking, killers inspecting steam profiles or psn profiles of survivors etc its just weird

I used to ditch with TTVs and still do as killer. Now as survivor I will ditch if 3 players are dressed alike Megs and my survivor is sticking out like a sore thumb. Nope not asking to get tunneled.

Yes but not in a punishable way more just frowned upon and i also think killers should not be able to see what items survivors are bringing

Killers need that information to plan around it because there are four people against them. They should always be able to see the Survivors they are against and the items they have to make a plan. Just like how Survivors should be able to see their teammates' perks and items to plan.

Um who cares? You're not going to get banned for it, if you're that good at dodging and getting not horrible teammates good for you I guess.

PS5 killer main. The quality of my games went up significantly when I started avoiding anyone with "<3" in their name, comp looking Aces, people with special characters in their name, and any lobbies with multiple cross platform anon or multiple TTVs

Yeah, I'll sometimes just dodge what looks like a SWF, because I don't want to deal with it. It's just unfortunate I could be dodging/wasting the time of an innocent group of solos. But the devs don't want to show us if it's SWF, nor balance SWF. So it is what it is.
