Why hold killers hostage?

Survivors have multiple ways of leaving a game early and without receiving penalty. With the addition of bots, I think it would keep people from giving up on first hook if dc bans were removed for survivors, and the only penalty left is gaining no points or xp from the match. Killer players on the other hand need still need bots, and have no way to exit a match early if the survivors are straight up harassing the player and/or making it impossible to get a few hook states (not even a win). Example: survivors refusing to do gens or leave when exit gates are open to maximize the frustration of the killer. I played more survivor than killer last year and it was more consistently fun to play, even losing 3/4 matches or more, than killer even though I like killer gameplay more.

It feels like every 3rd match as killer is against flashlight gen trap spammers, and/or coordinated teams who force you into a situation where you must finish chase or they will stay healed ((but if you finish chase they will finish 2-3 gens in that time because they are all experts in chase, making it near impossible with certain killers to even get 4 hook states before the exit gates are open) and sometimes they literally know what single corner rock they need to loop to deny a hook state and extend chase)

Possible solution: give killers a lever or something only they can interact with to power and open exit gates before gens are done (maybe using it still nullifies points and xp to avoid endgame build spam) or once killer bots are good enough just disable dc ban times on everybody and keep the reward restrictions. If the bans are necessary, understandable, maybe only ban one queue so players can jump into a match on the other team.

As of now playing killer matches like that feel extremely disheartening and frustrating, and it makes me personally feel even more so to then be punished when I give in to not wanting to be taunted for 5 mins only to receive a five min ban on top of the point and challenge and xp progress lost :(

i don't want to see something like killer being able to go next without punishments, i would rather want to see kobes removed to further discourage giving up and actually start punishing it

There are things in the game that make participation insanely annoying and stupid like gen-trap spam, chain blinds, free escapes, general map safety, etc. and tweaking/reworking stuff like that would be good.

It wouldn't be good to reinforce and further enable the I-give-up mentality which is already spreading like wildfire.

No you see you misunderstand. Y’all are right these things are just annoying gameplay aspects. Why is the game holding the killer player hostage? Why am I not allowed to leave a game where I’m essentially just getting bullied, without the threat of then being unable to play for about the duration of the crappy match against the mean pro survivors. The issue isn’t with the tools available to the survivors. The issue is that when players are being intentionally annoying it’s the player who doesn’t want to suffer that gets punished.

Also I don’t feel chasing players out off the gate isn’t a solution to them timing the game out if they do the same expert looping as they do the rest of the game

I would argue it’s far healthier for the game to allow players to leave matches against players being internationally mean, and allowing them to jump right back into a match, possibly in the other que with a single que ban.

I think the lack of a ranked mode and holding players hostage, meaning not allowing them to just jump into another game when they don’t want their time wasted, is a sign that devs don’t think enough people would want to play against teams where you can’t even get 3 hook states before the exit gates open. I guarantee they are wrong though, someone is always up to the challenge, but it’s just so unfun to jump into 1 of the 3 matches I can fit in a day with que times only to waste my time breaking every pallet on a map accomplishing nothing but taking in the scenery.

I have the Stanley parable downloaded at least so while I wait for the 5 min band to expire I can play a more entertaining and calming walking simulator lol.

Jokes aside I love killer and survivor and I genuinely think the bans cause more toxicity than they prevent. 90% or more of players will jump straight into another match, if their forced to stay survivors self kill on hook in these situations, killers do junk like slugging, tunneling etc. (I know y’all know what I mean if you’ve been on either receiving end)

Not every game is gonna be ideal. For instance sometimes 2 of your 4 survivor teammates will give up immediately, or 2 gens will pop before you caught a survivor. You can still play through either game situation, have fun, and win. But I have NEVER had fun against a team that denies even a single hook with underhanded tactics and over coordination ( and before anyone cherry picks me, no SWF is not the problem either, these games can be some of the most fun )

I think taking rewards, rift, and mission progress is more than enough of a punishment.

iron cutlass I can forgive missing my point, but excusing players being intentionally annoying to the point of borderline harassment knowing the killer is forced to humor them or receive a ban as long as their stalling, and misrepresenting my point as being ‘gen rushing bad’ or ‘survivor needs a nerf’ is just hurts my guy :/

Any killer worth their salt gets annoyed when a survivor quits, especially when unprovoked, because a free win is meaningless. By the same extension Killers should hold themselves to the same standard.

Every killer you've ever met has at some point or another been bullied in their DBD career. It's a trial by fire, and a chance to develop your skills against players making things much harder for you.

Don't be like a quitter Survivor, no one likes those guys other than fellow quitter survivors. If you keep playing and pressing no mattter what, they will eventually run out of pallets and have to complete gens or you'll start killing them. Take it as a chance to grow and learn, and who knows? Their overconfidence might even result in you killing a bunch of them.

Under no circumstances is it ever acceptable to quit as a killer. It isn't as a Survivor either, but you know, there's more of them to have enough bad eggs to echo each other and say that selfish behaviour is OK.

Definitely agree with y’all the self unhooks should be removed.

Curious to see what y’all think of the idea of giving killers an exit gate lever that deactivates endgame perks and game rewards but prevents bans. (Maybe still make reportable if misused)

Look I’ve played, won and lost, some extremely difficult matches against good survivors, but at the end of the day the inability to leave a match early when you feel your not really getting to play sucks

I’ll level with y’all, last thing I’ll say, I’m nerodivergent, 3 milkmen Steve’s body blocking and healing one another while another does gens and making it impossible to get a single hook all game, while using that annoying screaming aura perk, can frustrate me to the point of clinical overwhelm and I cannot physically or mentally force myself to suffer through a game like that so I take the 5 min ban.

I feel a punishment outside of gameplay that is confirmed to be bad for players mental health, has to be bad for the games overall health. At the end of the day we all just want to play to have fun. I don’t understand why things like timeout slugging are not tolerated while timing out endgame after a bad match is perfectly allowed.

at the very least that should add a counter balance system that increases killer speed or somthing if a certain hook threshold isn’t met by 2-0 gens left
