Just bring back rank match making
I won't lie it was better...rank matchmaking was better then Skill based sure it wasn't good but it seemed way better then Skill based because guess what Skill based matchmaking doesn't even focus on Skill.
Skill(noun): the ability to do something well.
Escaping from a match may require some skill to locate and open a gate but you also forgot all the other factors gens, stealth, chase, being able to help teammates. Aka all the emblems at this point emblems mean nothing because it's just hey congrats you've now reached the level to earn some BP for next month. Survivors dying on hook because they didn't want to play doesn't require skill Chase, pressure, hitting survivors and hooking require skill. So sorry bit umm skill based matchmaking isn't living up to it's name.

So that a 100-hour player can be put with a 10,000-hour player, because they're both around the same rank... which is what we have now. Genius.

If they expanded on the Emblems some then maybe.
@danielmaster87 brings up the worst part of both systems, which is gross mismatches.

Overall just some kind of better solution because no matter what Skill based is horrendous no matter what I do it just throw complete curve balls and not fun curve balls. So just something the emblem system shows your skill through points so boom there's what skill based matchmaking should be based on

And they'd need to bring back old Rank Reset. None of this, "Everyone can only be sent back 10"

Agreed

There does need to be a change of some sort to the current matchmaking. The swings from potato to SWF Team 6 skill level and back again from game to game with no apparent reasoning occur more and more often these days.

No matter what system they use, stopping the backfill bs where it throws even the terrible matchmaking logic they're using out the window as soon as someone dodges.
"Removing prestige from lobbies will stop killers dodging!" As i'm waiting for the 4th killer to ready up because two of us happened to be playing RE survivors…1 -
Getting send back 10 Ranks was fine IMO. When you went from Rank 1 to Rank 10 or Rank 11 (whatever it was). The problems with Rank-based Matchmaking started with the Devs making Rank Reset less impactful and only setting you back to the next Color.
But Emblems would still need some work, but it would be better than MMR what we have now. Because this is truely random matchmaking what is going on.

See I get just going by emblems can be bad but it's at least better then how many kills because I think bots shouldn't count because guess what their basically just you against the game no real skill there or people going on first hook either because their teammates hate them or because they're not happy. Having it going by the emblems is an idea aka points/skill congrats you repaired a lot of gens and did a few totems here you go an iridescent emblem with some points to go into your match making. A bronze emblem for going down a lot well we'll remove a point or two just in case. Silver for being chased and pallet stuns well not to shabby but we'll give you a point or two just to be sure. Even for killer it could work. Iridescent for 12 hooks? Well I'll be darned here you go. Hmm a bronze chase emblem must of had a hard time getting downs easily well we'll take some points away and see if this matchmaking zone can work for you.
I don't know how many points for what but it's an idea using the Emblems can be useful for a decent form of matchmaking that actually fits the name SBMM

Yeah lobby dodging and shopping around is still a very significant problem. I wouldn't mind having locked lobbies tested out to see the effects on matchmaking. It would also neatly get rid of that last second swapping nonsense survs can still do for some reason.

In which way focused old matchmaking more on skill? In my experience it works well most of the time, if people actually stay in the game and try.
Old matchmaking was simply a 50 hours player against 10k, that's really damn stupid. Did I learn the game a lot faster, because of the survivors with several thousands of hours I played against? Probably yes. Was it fun? Not really.
Is that now better? Most of the times: yes.
I can tell it works okay, because I know against what people my girlfriend plays with around 300 hours. So I don't know what you mean with "it was better".

I wanna see what kind of games your getting because holy hell match making hates me I could have escaped one match then suddenly get stomped on for the rest of the day no matter what time of day it is.

I didn't say "most of the time" because it sounds so funny: yes there are games that are unrealisticly to win for any side, but it's still much less common than before for me. The biggest problem are the maps for me, the matchmaking itself works good enough.
If you want an hourcount: it changes from 800 to 8k sometimes 14k. I'm roughly at 2,9k at the moment and win more than I lose most days.

Yeah this current system sucks. Sadly because behaviour does not play their game they don't really understand and probably will keep it for the sake of it at the very least functioning so I guess we wait for a decade to get a good matchmaking system
