Perks should NOT be visible in lobby

I genuinely believe the game will be in a very bad place if the developers allow us to see each other’s perks in the lobby. At the slightest inconvenience, players leave matches and suicide on hook. I don’t understand why giving more information to these players about their matches is presented as a solution. They need less!

That player has a yellow perk? Baby. Lobby dodge.

That player isn’t running an Otzdarva 4/5 star perk? They aren’t taking this match seriously. I am. Lobby dodge.

That player has a selfish perk? Bad player. Lobby dodge.

I don’t want to load into DBD and have long waits between matches because I have a casual build. I should not be forced to run a meta build every single game in order to get people to play with me.

I am aware that Otzdarva suggested the feature should have a toggle to be turned off/on—but anyone who plays DBD has the ability to think critically and strategically. Very quickly, the entire community will realize that having your perks turned off means you aren’t running meta perks. Not communicating is still communication.

With that said, I am also aware the world does not revolve around me and what I think. I am open to changing my opinion, if presented with a valid argument.

I really hate that I am recommending this, because my hands are tied and I genuinely don’t agree with the time investment required, but if players REALLY want to announce they have Deliverance — they should prestige Adam and put the Deliverance charm on their character. I know it takes hours to do that — and it’s not very realistic to have people prestige characters to communicate — but I’m not sure what else to suggest. Console players don’t have the ability to chat. Maybe the developers will make a change that allows us to buy prestige charms from the Shrine of Secrets. There has to be another way to communicate this information.

Perks should never be visible to others in the lobby. It would increase people dodging and I don't think Behavior is even considering to make it possible to see the perks. Its idiotic and if people want others to know they perks they can write them in the game chat.

    >Add a 4th charm slot.

    >New functionality: Charm Match. Press a button and all charms equipped will reflect current loadout if unlocked.

    >Have small marketing campaign on the 4th charm slot. 4 leaf clover … March?

    >Sell prestige charms in store for 1000/1500/2000 shards each.

    • Veteran players are rewarded for already having prestige charms unlocked for free.

    >Ask Fog Whisperers to use the new Charm Match functionality.

It shouldn't be in the lobby, you're right. I do think this information can be shared while minimising the risk of players acting out because they don't like what they see, though.

My suggestion would be to have perks visible in two places; the loading screen, and the in-game "pause"/escape menu.

Players could still leave matches based on that info but there'd be a higher barrier to entry, which would lower the amount of people doing it. If this change is rolled out alongside the badly needed removal of hook suicides, players would also have to DC to leave matches with """bad""" perks in play, and eat the DC penalty for doing it.

Don't worry, BHVR went through the trouble of removing prestige in lobby precisely to tackle lobby dodging/targeting.

Showing perks would undo, and arguably make it much worse than before, all progress that change did. There's no way they are too shortsighted to not know this.

If lobby dodging would be a risk, you could make it appear where you pause the game like you've mentioned. It would be nice to see that a survivor has - let's say Deliverance to know not to go for the save and would let solo-queue be more in line with SWF.

Loading screen would allow people to DC during the loading screen. Before the lobby starts would have people leaving if they see a yellow perk as @WolfePhD mentioned. I do not believe that allowing survivors to see each other's perks would be a horrible addition, in fact it would be great. It could show the perks right where it shows our perks when we pause - I know that they added that for Chaos Shuffle but it would do wonders and even allow survivors to read the perks if they were curious too.

I don't believe you can DC during the loading screen without fully shutting down the game, can you?

The major point of concern would be people DCing while the camera's panning around, but I do genuinely think fewer people would do that than would just leave a lobby before the game starts.

Unavoidably, something like this would have to come alongside some kind of stricter prevention for people quitting out of games at the drop of a hat, though.

You can indeed quit out of a game entirely - but you can't "DC" in the game's terms of dcing lol.

I called it dcing because that's essentially what you're doing, you're closing out the app. I don't think people would DC as much from seeing each other's perks when the game loads up as they'd just be eating a DC penalty regardless.

It wouldn't affect me as I only normally DC when another person dcs or my random kills themselves on hook as the game is pretty much DOA. I would still like the addition as it would improve survivors learning gaps as people can read about different perks, just like in Chaos Shuffle. Might even get people to try new perks or buy new characters too.

Edit: I will mention that I don't normally DC a lot, last night I was getting rough games of randoms dcing and killing themselves on hooks making me get tilted. 😭 Usually I'll play through, but I had like 3 people DC, multiple people killing themselves on hook - it was honestly ridiculous last night.

You can Alt+F4 during the loading screen.

It will cause the entire match to just not start.
