Separate Leveling system

Honestly I think the best thing that DBD has is when you start on a brand new Character weather it's on Killer or survivor it starts you off fresh. Like ur starting a new game for the first time. That ads to the learning curve this game does will.

This would not really work. For Survivor it would impossible to work, because they are just skins. If I played Nea for 1000 hours and then start playing Feng does not erase the knowledge I gained from playing Nea.

For Killer it is similar - if I play a lot of Wraith, I will do well on any M1-Killer, since the basic gameplay is the same.

In both cases you would have knowledge which you can transfer to the new character, which would just mean that players who are actually new to the game will a really hard time.

Will you also forget every match you played?

Uhm just to note this was supposed to be a compliment type Post. I'm saying it's a good thing they make it so you have to start from scratch with characters you just start playing because it's like starting a new game. Just want to clear this up

Yeah the way you phrased it is confusing as you state "Separate Leveling System" and people probably just went, "oh new system? why would we need that"

I think there's something to be said for starting players off at a much lower rank if they're playing a mechanically tricky Killer for the first time.

I played my first (and possibly last) Cenobite game not so long ago and I couldn't do anything with his special attack. I didn't even get passive value from the box because a Survivor would solve it before a chain hunt started. It was a very frustrating experience. I get the impression that he's very difficult for controller players, which didn't help matters much.

I get why more experienced Killers are rarely matched with new players when they try out a new Killer, but surely there should be a bit more leeway if the Killer has a reputation for being challenging to learn.

start fresh? how? Survivors are just skins, and killers ahve the same basic gameplay... the only annoying thing is to get back to p3 with a new character...
