Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

DBD, DBD, DBD.... tut tut tut

I wanted to take a moment to express my concerns regarding the current state of Dead by Daylight, specifically in terms of the balance between Killers and Survivors. While I understand that this is an asymmetrical 1v4 game, recent changes have made playing Survivor increasingly frustrating and, at times, unreasonably difficult.

Many Killers now require a significant amount of effort and precision from Survivors to counter effectively, while certain Killers have access to multiple strong abilities that allow them to dominate without much skill investment. This creates a dynamic where Survivors are left with very little room for counterplay, leading to unbalanced and often unenjoyable matches. Additionally, the game's high kill rate target suggests that Killers are not only being favoured but are also being given tools that make victories feel inevitable rather than earned.

Beyond balance concerns, it’s disheartening to see how Survivor-related issues are often overlooked or dismissed, whereas Killer-related complaints seem to receive swift attention and adjustments. A recent example is the handling of the Xenomorph nerfs, which were quickly reverted after community backlash from Killer players. Meanwhile, longstanding Survivor concerns remain largely unaddressed. This kind of disparity in developer response fosters frustration among those who play Survivor regularly.

Moreover, gameplay mechanics like RNG-dependent loops, prolonged generator repair times, and the overall ease of play for some Killers make it feel as though Survivors are merely passive participants rather than active competitors. The experience is becoming increasingly repetitive—sitting on generators for most of the game, only to be swiftly eliminated due to overpowered Killer abilities and limited Survivor resources.

I used to love this game, and I was happy to support it through purchases and playtime. However, the current design seems to prioritize Killer enjoyment at the expense of Survivor experience. I don’t find it fun anymore, and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. If the game continues down this path, it will likely push more players away.

Killers are actually at some of their lowest killrates in this game's history right now.

The problem is that the game is very unfriendly to players at lower skill levels, especially survivors; there's also very few new players coming in to play killer / survivor so the matchmaking is… pretty terrible, to say the least.

Not a single killer in DBD has a sub 50% kill rate so you're definitely just making shiat up.

The current state of solo Q doesn't reward skill expression. Play any other popular PvP game and this will become very clear.

Bhvr listens to survivors too. Remember when they were giving Huntress buffs and all the survivors united behind cherry picked clips and propaganda to get her movement speed buff reverted. The coordination of lies, propaganda, content creators cherry picking and lying to their audience to spark outrage was truly mesmerizing to witness.

And unfortunately, Bhvr listened to crying instead of watching kill/ win rates.

Besides you literally won’t even have to try to win as survivor in a few months. You’re getting free anti camp on top of your anti face camp, free anti tunnel on top of your free basekit BT, free anti slug. Like it’s gonna be bad for killers soon, real bad.

Might as well introduce anti hooking basekit. Oh oh and anti injuring basekit as well! Oh and anti launching the game! How about if you choose to queue up as killer you actually get banned for it! That’s where it seems like we’re going.

Camping, slugging and tunneling should be allowed. There are situations where it’s needed and to say otherwise is wrong. And the Devs themselves in the past said it was a necessary gameplay mechanic before they started backpedaling.

The OP was complaining about how Devs listen to killers and not survivors which I proved was flat out false.

Really, camping, tunneling, and slugging should be reactionary at most though. Like if you're in egc, survivors and killers expect camping to happen because it's kind of balanced in that scenario, and it's often the only realistic way for the killer to get another sacrifice at that point. And if you only have a few hooks but most gens are done, maybe tunneling becomes understandable. But tunneling and camping at four or five gens often just makes the game feel like a waste of time from the survivor side. As killer, slugging makes sense when you have a bully squad, you need to go pressure a gen instead of picking up, or your survivor is about to wiggle out.

I agree that these shouldn't be removed completely because there are secnarios where they can make sense, but I think that they should be made much less effective in the early game (e.g. 4 or 5 gens). I don't like playing survivor anymore because it's so common for a killer to pressure gens that aren't far from the hook, then run back and hard tunnel immediately before a heal can be done. I genuinely hate when I run out in front of the killer and get as close as I can to them before they even get near hook, but they just ignore me and go hunt for their injured target to tunnel out. I mean, what's the point of playing the game as a survivor if someone's going to do that? And as killer, I would prefer to lose my game rather than tunnel someone in the early game and ruin their experience and then pretend that I did a good job. I would genuinely feel ashamed if I did that.

So I think I agree with you, these things shouldn't be removed, but they should be made less viable in certain situations.
