Grab attacks seem to slow the killer down too much (compared to basic attacks)
The power recovery time after doing a grab attack, and the attack cooldown itself seems to delay your chases considerably than if you were to basic attack and only use your power for traversal. The power cooldown will come back faster this way, because it recharges when you start cancelling it and continues to recharge during the basic attack. This allows you to down a survivor from healthy much faster. Additionally, the broken chain add-on seems to solidify this playstyle, it reduces the power cooldown by a massive 35% only when you are not enraged.
The high usage rate of MFT is what encouraged me to try this.
I know that other things should be considered here, such as the fact grab attacks have a massive range, as well vaults being faster whilst enraged and the access to the 3rd leap.
But honestly i find it frustrating that this playstyle is being considered because i doubt it's an intended playstyle (although, that add-on suggests it might be?) because when you do this playstyle you literally get 0 deviousness points and going enraged generally seems encouraged. They also suggested on the stream that you should stay in enraged mode as much as possible, but i think this has been hurting me more than helping.
I used steam replay viewer for this so there might be some innaccuracies but this is what i found.
not enraged :
1 leap = 6 seconds
2 leaps = about 10 seconds
enraged:
become enraged = about 10-12 seconds
attack cooldown = 3-4 seconds (base attack is 2.7)
1 leap = 4 seconds
2 leaps = 7 seconds
3 leaps = 9 seconds
grab attack = 10 seconds
broken chain :
1 leap = 4 seconds
2 leaps = 7 seconds
Again very important to consider here, your power only starts recovering after doing a grab attack when the survivor regains full movement, whilst you practically cannot move, and basic attack power recovery will start immediately when you cancel.

Great point, I also found more success in basic attacks unfortunately.

I also put on MFT knowing that I'd be facing a lot of Kanekis. I was surprised how rarely they decided to deep wound me with their power. I had to put on a purple instaheal just to increase my chances of using MFT, instead of not getting to use it full stop.
But it is a similar conundrum to Wesker, where yes he dashed up to you and hit you with his power, but then he gets to stand basically in place, and you get to run off at full speed. The rage mode would have to be super worth it if they wanted people to be using Kaneki's power to injure.
