Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The Ghoul - Feedback

First of all, thank you for realizing an eight year dream of mine, adding Tokyo Ghoul to the game! Killer is really fun to play! I hope it stays that way >.< because some killer nerfs have been REALLY CRUSHING.

That said…I think the hitbox of the Kagune Grab should be way smaller. As small as the icon that pops up when you're aiming, really. If you don't aim that icon over the Survivor, the attack should miss. It's right now too forgiving. The range of it also pretty great. I think for the grab it'd be shorter. Seeing it hit through walls sometimes doesn't feel fair and satisfying for either sides.

I am a killer main and am planning on maining this killer. I think these nerfs would be a good step in the right direction, while keeping the killer overall fun to play. Just slightly harder to execute.

Also…I hadn't grabbed hold of a survivor which was the intention, she vaulted. I followed after her. Landed and…injured her upon landing? That needs to be fixed, as funny as it was.

If BHVR does that, every single console player who bought Kaneki should get a refund. He'd become as painful as Huntress, Deathslinger, Trickster.

Making the hitbox a little smaller so that people have better control aimimg around survivors makes sense. Nerfing the length of his grabs makes sense. Making him a skill-shot killer would destroy his playability for a lot of people due to the mechanical limitations of consoles.

If Kaneki gets nerfed, I'd really like it to be things like stun times or distances. BHVR tried to handicap Trickster's power by giving him recoil, which PC players barely felt but it made him impossible to play on console. Making Kaneki's hitbox small is going to have a similar effect, only console players are going to really feel it because PC players have precise aim with a mouse.

I have had horrible experiences facing this killer. 95% of survivor games since the ghoul's release have been against it, and I have only won 2 out of ~30. The Ghoul is an amalgamation of Wesker, Blight, Legion, Deathslinger, Hag, The Lich, The Xenomorph, and Spiderman. Not fun to play against; you almost have a better chance against a bad killer who's using cheats and surviving than going against the Ghoul. I'm giving up on playing Survivor and am probably going to take a break from this game until I hear that this killer has either been severely nerfed or removed entirely. It's just not fun to play Survivor against a 7/8-in-one killer with a ~5% chance of getting a single person out.

He would still be hitscan, which Huntress, Deathslinger, and Trickster are not. If you click the hitbox you're still guaranteed the hit with no chance to dodge, the hitbox would just be smaller. The enormous hitbox is actually often frustrating when playing AS Kaneki - I'll want to latch onto the environment NEAR a Survivor to slide past them and cut them off, but the hitbox/grab icon takes up such a huge chunk of my display that I literally can't.

I didn't say don't tone it down; I simply said it shouldn't be a skill shot. The original poster said "the Kagune Grab should be way smaller. As small as the icon that pops up when you're aiming." That would gut him for many console players. Analog sticks are not precise—the higher the sensitivity the less precise they are—and DbD doesn't have dead zone or response curve settings. Hitscan doesn't matter if the target is tiny and moving and the player is never able to maneuver to it and hit the button fast enough to get the hit. That's before input lag, frame drops, and the low fps come into play. Console performance affects every aspect of gameplay, and the more precise mechanical skill required, the more console players are excluded from using it. There must be some happy medium where he's usable on both PC and console.

No, that was my bad, I'm max tokens on Hex: Eepy and misread what you'd said. I can only stand to use a controller on things like character action games and playing jumpscare Myers because the slow walk is spooky and then it's goofy as hell messing around at the gate. Throwing snipes and orbital hatchets? Miss me with that literally, if people are doing that with a controller, kudos to them, they're cracked. I totally get why they made Kaneki's power hitscan, and I don't think they should shrink the hitbox to the size of the 'reticle', maybe shrink it to a half or a third at most of its current size, or even make it the entire Survivor "pillbox", since that's still pretty generous.

Pretty much this. The devs at BHVR have stated that Kaneki's lunge and grab needs to be a hit-scan, they even said as much in the livestream because they originally intended for him to be a skillshot. However, that made him nigh impossible to play because he was too clunky, slow and felt really really bad to play. IIRC, it was said that PC with KB&M wasn't too bad (which is why the lunge feels oppressive in live btw), but the play testers were missing more than making hits, and it was especially atrocious with a controller due to controllers being less precise.
If he had been released as a skill-shot killer, he would have been touted as the "worst" IP killer added to DbD in years, and would have added fuel to the "anti-anime in DbD" crowd.

So as much as his leap sucks and feels bad to play with, as he is technically hiitting the hiitbox behind the survivor and not the survivor themselves. Kaneki unfortunately needs to be a hitscan, because otherwise, he will be unplayable.

If Kaneki is nerfed and changed to a "skill-shot" killer, just to suit all the little p*ss baby shift+w survivor mains who can't be arsed to learn how to loop. I will be demanding a refund, not just for Kaneki, but for all of the killer cosmetics I have bought over the four years I've been playing this game.

I agree it doesnt need to be gutted. Infact its the opposite of skull merchant where everyone loves the killer but dislikes how its slightly overtuned and overused. Ive escaped several rounds against this killer and even had people escape from me as them. Hes no more a "free win" as any other high tier killer as most of the rounds people are losing is because of tunneling and slugging which is easier with high mobility (and for all we know might change drasticly with the upcoming "anti slug/anti tunnel" changes) All he needs is a little slice off the top and he will be fine.
