Disappearing posts

Okay, here is a question.
I think this has happened before but i am unsure, however today i posted a post in general and it just vanished after a few hours. The reply notifications are still in my notifications but the post is gone. No information or notification of my post removal has appeared. So what exactly happened? Did an admin decide to remove my post without reason and just sweep it under the rug? How does this work? Am i missing something?

    When you edit your posts, they get sent to the Spam Filter and need to be manually approved, no one is trying to hide anything, it's simply how the system works to prevent spam accounts from changing the text of their posts to dangerous links/media or to advertisements.
