New Hiding Locations (Suggestion)

You read that correctly; what if survivors had new hiding spots? I’ve played multiple games where you can hide in various locations from enemies. I will be informing where these locations can be found, their strengths and weaknesses, how killers can possibly find you, and ways to counter holding the game hostage.

In the bushes

There can be various of hidden bushes throughout the middle of the map. They can be located either in the middle or nearby abandoned places. (They should be spread out!) They can be found nearby generators or hooks.

To balance this out:

  • Hiding in a bush can be somewhat risky
  • If injured, your sounds a lot more muffled but not completely
  • After you’ve hidden in this three times; the bush completely wears out and can no longer be used again.
  • Entering bushes can be a bit loud as well as leaving it. (It will not notify the killer however)
  • If the killer finds you; they can reach in and yank you out of the bush. (They can still hear you if injured it’s just muffled by 50%)

If someone is being idle or camping the area for too long (attempting to take the game hostage) there should be a loud notification sound of crows locating where the survivor is hiding.

Underneath Narrow Locations

These should be found around buildings or shacks. An extra empty space underneath these abandoned places where survivors can hide in to. (It’s a bit obvious however) They can be found nearby hooks since it is around buildings and killer shacks.

To balance this out:

  • Hiding underneath narrow locations is possibly the most riskiest if injured.
  • If injured your sounds aren’t completely hidden (this is why this makes it a risky place to hide)
  • This location doesn’t really wear out but takes a bit of time to enter to hide. (Perhaps 5-7 seconds)
  • You have the ability to hold your breathe for a short amount of time. (10 seconds max)
  • If the killer finds you; they can look underneath and grab the survivor’s arm pulling them out from where they were hiding from.

If someone is being idle or camping the area for too long (attempting to take the game hostage) there should be crows nearby this survivor giving a loud notification sound locating where the survivor is hiding. This location will be closed off by the entity as well if abused too often (for the rest of the game). Example: hiding for too long in the location until crows appear.

Crates

There are several crates in Dead by daylight’s maps. Coal Tower is one of those maps. They should spawn in on certain maps while other maps shouldn’t spawn with them. A few crates should also appear (3-5 max). Crates shouldn't spawn nearby generators but around the middle of the map nearby hidden trees or hooks.)

To balance this out:

  • Hiding in crates is almost as safe as hiding in a locker.
  • If injured your sounds would be as muffled as a locker.
  • This hidden location can be destroyed after a survivor has used it.
  • As I mentioned before, killers can actually destroy the top of it with their weapon where survivors can no longer hide in there.
  • If the killer finds you; they can destroy the top of it and pull out the survivor.

If someone is being idle or camping the area for too long (attempting to take the game hostage) there should be crows right on top of the crate giving off a loud notification sound where the survivor is hiding. Crows will circle the crate notifying where the survivor is.

Finally, this can give off more BPs to both survivors and killers. With new ways to hide, killers can possibly find more of these survivors in these locations (including lockers).
This can also give stealthy survivors more options, including more bold points in the category.

I'd really like to hear feedback on this so tell me what you guys think?
Are the spawn locations, and strength and weaknesses fair?
Or just tell me your own opinion on this.

I want more hiding spots toooooo! More kinds of spots to hide with varying degrees of risk sound awesome. It would add more to the stealth tactic. They'd probably have to reduce the amount of lockers though so there aren't 12 immediate hiding spots for the killers to sift through to find someone.

Tree Trunks: Faster to get into, and to get out of. Keeps you exposed since the opening isn't closable. Able to use over and over again, and noise isn dampened.

Open Chests: Killers can now open chests that have been used. A survivor approaches the chest and crawls in and closes the lid over themselves. No item can be in the chest, and you must pick up the item if there is one before you can enter.

I dig all three of your ideas

I’m glad someone suggested a few more ideas!! I tried to keep them as balanced as possible because I personally feel like stealth should have more things around the map instead of just using urban or hiding into lockers.

I'm a bit weary of this idea. On the one hand, if survivors are hiding in bushes or under crawl spaces or whatever, that means they aren't working on generators. So it might slow the game down a little. On the other hand it means less potential bloodpoints earned by both survivors and killers in a given time period. Killers don't earn bloodpoints if they can't find survivors to interact with and survivors don't earn bloodpoints by just hiding in lockers or bushes or whatever.

I can't say that I'm really keen on lowering the amount of bloodpoints earned per minute. That is my chief objection. I'm not opposed to stealth options in general. But for the greater good, it is probably for the best if this doesn't happen.

I respect your opinion completely and can understand your concern all of these options I’ve mentioned don’t have to be all in one game. It’s just different ways to hide just like lockers. Plus all of these are all spread out.
